I'm trying to remember if it was the Riley or Frost regime that shotgunned offer letters to seemingly anyone who lettered in football. I get the strategy, but it also seems to really devalue to offer, once received.
"Oh, you got one, too? Yea ... errbody getting Nebraska offers."

It was Frost. I believe at one point there was some sort of count for schools with the most offers out in that class and we were number one

The number I remember was in the 400s. That’s when we learned what “committable offer” meant.

I would place Adam Taylor up there with AJ Natter and Tyrin Ferguson as 3 dudes who I thought were going to be stars that turned into major busts.

I think I learned that back in like 2011. Pelini, Riley, and Frost all threw out a ton of offers. Most of them meant nothing.

I taught Jetts cousin in my class. He said he was receiving big time interest, but I never believed him.

most big time offers are "hey we'd like to offer you a scholarship IF you come camp and perform well for us" etc

Either way, Alabama hasn’t done that for many other kids in Nebraska. So whether the offer is legit or contingent, maybe it’s OK to just be happy for the kid? That’s probably better than making excuses in an effort to downplay the significance of a bama offer just because you’re scared Nebraska is missing out on the kid.

Yeah, it is surprising, because it means that Bama has struck out on all the top guys on their 2026 board is trying to poach someone from Cockeye St this late in the 2026 QB recruiting process. I know we can't say anything, but they only have 5 recruits in this class so far.
