The father's take on this is that the kid was "investigating" the suspicious car because it had been sitting behind the house for a few hours.

Then it became, "He wanted to take it for a joyride. Not sure why he had a gun."

Kid was masked up with a pistol, looking at the guy in the car as he approaches to open the door.

Not a huge fan of cops being in civilian clothes and unmarked vehicles but this dude was up to no good. Had I been in the same situation I probably would be checking the car out too, though.
