The man is 60-14 in his career, and has only lost by more than one score four times. And 2 of those "big losses" occurred at the end of the 2020 season when their offensive line was down 4 starters.

As for Shatel's column, is it really that off base? Omaha has more bandwagon fans than anywhere else I've ever been. There are tons of Yankees fans, Cowboys fans, and assholes who used to love the Miami Heat, the Cleveland Cavaliers, and now the Lakers.

I like Shatel in general and I think this column is corny but correct. So many people these last 5 years have acted like they’re lifelong Chiefs fans, and that the Chiefs are basically the home town team.

I’m not attached to any NFL team really, but there are definitely teams and fans who annoy me a lot more than the Chiefs 🤷‍♂️

I mean he’s a writer, that’s what they do, but to insinuate that proximity to a city equals automatic fandom is ridiculous. This article does nothing but continue the narrative of bandwagon fandom. Personally, I have serious disdain for bandwagon fans. Being a Nebraska fan is tough, football has been subpar for a long time, other sports a the uni have done well but I’m not changing my fandom because of this mediocrity. I’m also a Raiders fan, have been since the Super Bowl XI in 1977. I bet my dad 5 bucks that the Raiders would win and when they did that inked my allegiance. The Raiders have been turrible but I’m not changing my allegiance because I live closer to KC…

Omaha is a city of bandwagon fans. They seem to like whatever the flavor of the month is.

When the Cubs won the WS a few years back, the city was flooded alleged lifelong Cubs fans.

I remember the Rick Johnson days at Crayton...Crayton was bad and the Civic was pretty sparse with fans, but once Crayton got competitive..then boom! Crayton fans everywhere.

The new alleged lifelong Chiefs fans are the same.

Its sad and funny at the same time and to each their own. But for me, having a team I root for whether good or bad is more fun and rewarding when things start going your way.
