- Nebraska went 3-9 and biggest loss was by 9 points. Had a mediocre QB in Martinez and no running game besides him. Thompson just got named the QB, plus have Purdy from FSU and nice dual threat in Smothers.
- I think Nebraska could have a real good year. They should be bowl bound and potential for top 2 spot in West Division this season.
- Reading the comments from Frost…everything is positive which I get to some degree, but seems irrational positive also. probably it’s media talk from this one short beat report, but also does not appear he is actually evaluate the team realistically…knowing strengths and flaws.
- It's just a really strange situation all the way around. I continue to think Nebraska and Urban Meyer might be desperate enough to jump into bed together this offseason.

- This for some reason scares me in a good and bad way. Good that it would be beneficial for the B1G and bad that it would mean another probably loss each year. lol Nebraska is still a big brand regardless of their recent history and with the right coach they could easily work themselves back to being a powerhouse. Urban is one of those coaches because of who he is that could do that in my opinion.

- Stewart Mandel has us going 6-6 while going 3-0 in nonconference. Presumably our conference wins would be against Indiana (0-9), Nebraska (2-7), and Northwestern (2-7).
- Since we beat Nebraska in basketball in February of 2020, we have not lost to them in a major sport! We have won four straight in basketball and two straight in football.

- I don’t think anyone is counting it as a lock. Don’t play until November so a lot is unknown at this point. Nebraska has a new qb and a lot of new assistant coaches with a tone deaf coach talking about lineman vomiting as if that equates to better play.
- It’s one of those locks like Cockeye vs MN… it has been a lock, but often close.
- SP+ has Nebraska as a one point favorite. Still multiple months away, but early read is that the Gophers may not be favored in that game.

- I think the Frost train continues off the rails. Frost gets fired after losing to Rutgers. Later in the season, Nebraska can't muster more than 13 points against Minnesota. I don't see them making a bowl game, yet again.
- Now that Frost has been removed from Offense play calling, and that Nebby has a real OC (from Pitt, I believe), it might utilize its “on paper” talent a little better. I like our chances, but the outside world is giving a slight edge to Nebraska … until further data points become available. Go Northwestern!
- Martinez is a better athlete (leading rusher two years); Texas transfer, not known for his wheels, is a significantly better passer and makes fewer mistakes trying to force something.

- I still can't believe that ESPN is opening the college football season with a match between the University Of Nebraska Novice Drivers and Northwestern. The sport can definitely do better.

- The loans are forgiven through Farmer's Aid. No worries, though - they all learn to drive in a combine by the age of 9.
- I have a friend who attended Northwestern. I once made the mistake misabbreviating Northwestern as "NW", not "NU", and got an earful of scorn from them.* Since that encounter, I have mentally treated each year's Northwestern v. Nebraska football game as the Battle for "NU". Winner gets abbreviated as NU; loser has to bear the shame of being NW or NE for the next year.

- I've also often seen Nebraska referred to as "UNL" (University of Nebraska -Lincoln). Not sure if that's official in any way but it works for me.

- We lost 56 - 7 last year. Martinez is gone and I guess we are looking at Texas transfer Casey Thompson at QB for the Huskers
- I don't have a lot of confidence going into this game. I usually like to err on the bright side of things, but I'm not seeing much hope for optimism yet for the Cats. Somebody pass me the Purple Koolaid please.
- I expect Nebraska to disappoint again, and win about 5 games, tops. I also expect us to disappoint, and for Nebraska to beat us.
- The thought Frost hasn't even gone to a bowl game in four years is absolutely wild
- I'll say one thing. Keep it close early and the Cats could pull the upset here. Pressure will be very heavy burden for Scott Frost and the Cornhuskers here. It's practically a must win and that's a lot to put on the first game of a season.

- I like Whipple as an OC but keep in mind he had the best senior QB And one of the best underclassmen receivers in college football available at his disposal last year. He won’t have that kind of talent at Nebraska this year.
