I honestly think that Dean must has a financial stake in ABM with the way he has defended it plus promoted how successful it is. I have yet to talk to one Booster friend who is impressed with Gerrod. Most have said they don't trust him and 1 actually used the word "Dolt" to describe him. "Dolt" is not a term or respect or endearment. Ever since I called out Dean on it on RSS I have received so many DM's from posters telling me how they have heard the same things from people trying to support players through ABM/Gerrod.
Adrian made bank off of NIL which I think was part of the Marketing Plan. Number I heard was close to $160,000. Funnel it to a couple players so you can use their $$$'s as an examples to recruits and transfers. A couple boosters/businessmen told me that when they met with Gerrod that they felt like they were being directed to use the money towards Adrian. Gerrod was really pushing them to send the money towards Adrian's direction and they were wanting to go more to advertising with a couple Defensive Players. Spread the wealth was what they were thinking.
For a QB I’d guess: Giving one uncle a job and 1.5 million in NIL?
I was told that they are estimating Casey Thompson will get at least $1.2 Million in NIL money this year. Seems a couple boosters may have stepped up to secure his services.
Love to hear that. Maybe we are getting this NIL thing figured out. Would be big for the program. Sadly if we don’t come up big moving forward, coaching won’t matter.
From what I've been able to put together Frost/Gerrod/ABM were trying to funnel much of the NIL $$$$ to Adrian Martinez. They wanted a Show Pony that they could use as an example of how much players could make to use for recruiting and transfers. I was told, which may be right or might not be, that only 6 players made 6 figures last season being led by roughly $160,000 for Martinez.
I was told a few of the TC'ers who helped save Frost's Job ponied up a good bit of that $1.2 Million for Thompson. This info came from another Booster who is not a TC'er and became so frustrated dealing with Gerrod that he put his check book away. He literally called Gerrod a "Dolt". Said he felt like he was being forced by Gerrod to have his NIL money go to Martinez, so obviously he was dealing with Gerrod before Martinez announced he was leaving. He wanted to do some stuff with a couple defensive players.
Since I made the big scene calling out Dean on RSS about the BS he was spewing about the NIL being Top 5 and his claims of how well it was run I have been hit up with all kinds of DM's from RSS posters who also have similar stories from people they know who don't trust Gerrod and also think it is poorly run. They didn't want to feel the wrath of posting them and dealing with the backlash from the Mouth Breathers on RSS. Not one of them has had anything positive to say about our NIL Program or Gerrod. I was surprised how many mentioned that most didn't trust Gerrod. Another message that seemed quite common was that they felt Frost was directing Gerrod as to which players should get the money. Overall Gerrod/ABM didn't impress anyone I have been in contact with or with Boosters/Business Owners that mentioned it to RSS Posters.
I'm probably done posting on RSS, just too many FrostDavidian Potatoes that get triggered if you say anything negative about their savior Corch Frost or how he runs the program. It's a big business and you need to take your emotional attachment away from viewing it with an Open Mind. Numbers and results don't lie. Need to be objective.
Anyone know a non profit attorney? I've already talked with someone at Opendorse and I could build us a site to accept payment for players. My biggest road blocks right now are figuring out if the business can be a non profit, and I'm not particularly business savy, so it's a lot to learn on top of building the site.
Maybe @SantaBarbaraSker knows someone?
Not sure what your exempt purpose would be where you could be selective with who the money goes to. Think that would be your biggest hurdle. Could you do one where its a scholarship program? @God is a Husker Again don't think the people donating money could be selective on who their money goes to. The entity would have to establish criteria of who qualifies for the scholarship and then you'd have general donations that go into a pot. Dont know the rules well enough for football scholarships. Guessing that would be an issue too.
I have an idea as to what might qualify for non profit. I really just need to talk to a non profit attorney to go over what I have in mind.
I have had mutual clients with Dan Guinan at Fraser Stryker. Don't really know him but seemed fine.
Koley Jessen would be fine I'm sure but again don't know any of the non profit attorneys.
Mcgrath North and Kutak would have good attorneys but they think a little too much of themselves imo ($$).
I certainly wouldn't go cheap on something like this though.

@Faux Sean Callahan and I bought a bunch of Pelosi penny stock (ATAO) and if it goes over $1 or more we have already said we are buying Nebraska the best RB in the nation and 5 great OL
I'm not sure if I need more than a year/no answer at this point. If it was going to cost me too much for a lawyer, I could just start a simple LLC so I know what I'm doing will be legal.
First off to get a good yes/no answer any good lawyer is going to do some due diligence. If you called a lawyer that isn't already working for someone that's doing the exact same thing or something very similar and they give you a yes/no answer after a 5 minute explanation then you should run as fast as you can from that lawyer.
Forgoing the non profit status and doing it as for profit isn't as simple as setting up an LLC on legal zoom and raising money either. They can be paid for NIL. They can't be paid for nothing. What are people giving you money for? Again can't be nothing.
You do you but there's going to be a lot of attention around this stuff. I'd be damn sure what you're doing is legal and compliant with the NIL rules before I start taking money from people.
Putting it under an LLC doesn't mean you're completely shielded personally. People put too much weight on that.
I've talked with a guy at Opendorse about that already. Everything I do would go through them. They have all of this stuff figured out already. He just wasn't sure what would all be needed to do it as a non profit. Otherwise going the route of an LLC I would be able to ask them. I know exactly what I want the athletes to do already. I'm definitely not going to pay them to do nothing.
