Going to be driving out to Idaho on the 27th and I figure we’ll be right around Kimball, NE about 30 minutes before kickoff.

Wondering if any of our Western Nebraska folks have any recommendations on a good place for my buddy and I to watch the game and get a good steak before we spend the next 7 days eating freeze dried dehydrated meals in the mountains.

Haha yeah, I figure pretty much anywhere will have the game, just not wanting to blow it on the food mainly but also don’t want to end up in some steakhouse without a big TV in sight

Makes sense.

You can't go wrong with a good steak joint in that area. Love Western NE......just not enough to live there.

Love watching games out that way when I get a chance too. Watched the Michigan game (I know, central) in a little place by Thedford while I was out hunting at Halsey and had a great time getting our hearts broken amongst a bar full of hardcore Husker fans.

BTW, what wouldn't be a watch site in the Panhandle? Although you probably have some Cowboy, Ram and Buffalo fans out thatta way.

Wyoming and Colorado State way more so than CU fans.

I bet there are less than 5 CU alums in the entire 308, most kids that go to CU aren’t from anywhere remotely close to the state of Colorado. The past 20-30 years it has mostly just been a bunch of rich kids from the coasts.

@Elizabeth Reed GITT.

Finally someone who knows the definition of Western NE.

I’m honestly not familiar with the bars in Kimball. Drive thru there all the time but never stop. Pretty sure yore not going to find a decent steak there either.

Imo, yore best two options would be this:

1. Reroute yore Idaho trip north to Scottsbluff, watch the game at Backaracks, the Union Bar or The Rustic (in Morrill, 13 miles from SB).

Yore two choices for a solid steak would be the Steele Grill (Gering) or The Rustic (Morrill). You would have several decent motel options in SB/Gering also.

2. Stay on I-80 and continue on to Cheyenne. I would have to do a little homework for you regarding sports bars/good steaks but I would be happy to look into that.

Since it’s Week Zero that will be the only game on so you shouldn’t have a problem finding the game. Only problem could be the 10:30am kick-off time. LOTS of Husker fans in Cheyenne, btw.

Obviously, many hotel options in Cheyenne.

Good luck. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any more questions.

Many Cowboy & Rams fans are also Husker fans. Fact…..😎

Good call on it being a week zero game so it’ll be on everywhere. We might just leave at like 2am and try to get deeper into Wyoming so we can drive straight through and still have some daylight for scouting that night. You know of any places west of Cheyenne along 80? (I know we’re getting further from your wheelhouse)

Definitely some fun bars in Laramie (only 45 minutes past Cheyenne). Still..…the problem of a 10:30 am kick-off.

Beyond that is Rawlins, Green River and Rock Springs. Again, all a crap shoot with the early start time.

Ya. Laramie. Watch it at the Library bar - it's a UW staple.
