Texas A&M

  • Pray Ewers Starts
  • No respect for tu
  • I was raised that one is judged by the people one associates. Anyone who represents tu is someone I can not and will associate. tu is a disgrace to the people of Texas. I won't be wasting my time and defaming my reputation by watching a game that the SEC and TAMU should be embarrassed to participate.
  • I've met more than a few Aggies that are similar. Especially younger ones. For better or worse, A&M is more a corporation than the tradition filled university it once was. In the attempt to compete with Rubin multiple levels, we have become similar.
  • Is Elko a cheaper Jimbo?
  • He's a fatter jimbo
  • Elkos downfall is he hired terrible coordinators. Also notice how 0 players followed him.
  • He is Mike Sherman. We will be losing but damnit we are going to do it the right way with class or something stupid we tell ourselves after another 8-4 season
  • Elko of the last 3 weeks is starting to make me miss Jimbo.

BYU

  • I that at this point of the season we are seeing depth issues again
  • We were in position to win both games. I don't think depth is the issue here.
  • I actually think our depth has held up well
  • So is the B12 going to issue any fines to ASU?
  • If they were, I’m sure it would have happened by now.
  • I misplaced my airpods, I think they fell out of my pocket at the movie theater last Thursday, although I only realized I didn't have them this morning. FindMy is showing they are at someone's townhome (I believe). What likely happened is they fell out of my pocket at the theater and someone picked them up. It's not in the nicest part of town (I live in Nashville suburbs), so I'm faced with the option of going to this person's door and asking for them or just deciding to forget about it and buy a new pair.
  • Grow a new pair, take back what belongs to you!
  • Even if you were able to get them back, the person likely put them in their ears. Too gross, buy a new pair
  • Best case scenario: they tell you they don’t have them (no, they won’t give them back). Worst case: they kill you

Ole Miss

  • I’ll be the one to say it with all the madness of this season and today in general, a 3 loss SEC team likely gets in…
  • We’re gonna back door our way into the playoffs and win it all lol
  • End my suffering. End this season. Please.
  • Give the spot to SC - they deserve it.
  • Will the committee take a 3-loss SEC team over a 2-loss ACC team?
  • Does the committee have the stones to slot in four SEC teams and only one from the ACC and Big 12?
  • Ole Miss bama and A&M will all be fighting over who gets to represent the sec in the beef o’bradys bowl
  • Regardless of if we can make it not we don’t deserve to be in
  • At the end of the day ESPN owns the CFP And ESPN owns the SEC…A 3 loss SEC team absolutely deserves to be in over a 2 loss ACC team.
  • The bigger question is “Does South Carolina jump us when they beat Clemson?”
  • Fire Kiffin
  • Only if we lose to Starkville Academy next weekend. Then he will need to be fired.

Alabama

  • Kalen DeBoer Year One
  • When Alabama is at least a 14-point favorite: Kalen DeBoer 2 losses in 8 games / Nick Saban 3 losses in 139 games
  • Maybe the next coach will be able to rebuild out of the ashes in a few years.
  • I don’t think he should be fired after this season. I’m just not excited about how he manages the program thus far.
  • He doesn't understand you have to prepare for every team in the SEC.
  • You give a coach that is rebuilding a program 3 years. You don't give a coach 3 years to ruin a dominant program.
  • Les Miles was able to win a national championship with Saban's players.
  • Missing the 12 team playoff, losing to our two biggest rivals, and throw in a loss to Vandy in Year 1 is a tough pill to swallow.
  • There's talk on this board that Milroe comes back because we're paying him 2.5 mil a year.
  • Well my question is who would pay him? Who would pay a bad quarterback that kind of money to return?
  • I would love to see a "standard" NIL contract. From former players we know everyone has a base salary. We also know, if the players are telling the truth, that starter's representatives continually renegotiate as the season progresses. It's absolutely insane.
  • Was tonight a fireable offense?
  • Is losing by three tds and only putting up 3 points against an unranked team a fireable offense for a HC? To me it is
  • I just don't see a path back for CKD after tonight. I know he'll get another year, but it would be great if we could find an off ramp somehow.
  • If it was next year absolutely. I don’t think there’s any way they do it this year though. The football program is way too important to the university to let it slide into mediocrity again. But it’s quickly happening.
  • You can't make chicken salad with chicken poop. An Milroe is poop.
  • I don’t know, but I’m beginning to believe that DeBoer isn’t cut out for Alabama. The standard is too high
  • He has lost to two 5 loss teams and had Milroe throw the ball 45 times against Tennessee. One ok, two worried, but all three? Fire his arse and start over.
  • Who’s out there that’s any better than DeBoer? And who’s out there that will take the job if the standard and the expectations are that high?
  • He gets 3 years minimum, and to be honest, I’m more of a 4-5 years minimum guy now as the year to year volatility is much higher these days so it takes a bit longer to truly see what you have.
  • Yes, but we're in year 1 so there is nothing to do but let it ride. I don't think he's here more than 3-4 years though.
  • The SEC league has never been this good.
  • People need to forget about “the standard” that existed before NIL.
  • It’s looking like maybe we should take a look at Cignetti. I know their schedule was Charmin soft, but this guy will win 11 games at Indiana this year.
  • Lanning Sark and Kirby are all better than DeBeor
  • Maybe so, but DeBoer is undefeated against all of them. Crazy enough, DeBoer is 6-0 against this trio.
  • Firing him after year 1 is ridiculous. After year 2, all bets are off.

Northwestern

  • Will the new stadium at least help recruiting?
  • I know people have mixed feelings about getting a new stadium.
  • Right now our program just doesn't seem to have any talent. I assume we will continue to suffer serious talent deficit the next few seasons and have losing records. Will a new stadium draw better players?
  • Obviously yes, but the reality is also that next year we (and the rest of the Power programs) are going to start being able to pay players directly and that + NIL will likely be the biggest contributors to obtaining talent.
  • So for Big Ten teams, this will actually be relatively seamless. We won't have to dig around for extra money
  • When players ask what helped bring them into a certain program, facilities are at the bottom of the list. The new stadium might help out a bit, but not much.
  • NU is living in the recent past, when a facility arms race made a difference. What we need is a fully funded NIL and a way to get transfers through normal admissions
  • It's mainly about being able to outbid the Stanford's and Duke's and other schools that we compete with directly for talent.
  • Exactly what I have been harping on for months. We have no excuses to get worse. There is enough money to “buy” a competitive team.

Minnesota

  • Matt Rhule is a shitty football coach. There. I said it.
  • To be fair, he was a much worse NFL coach.
  • I think it’s likely Nebraska wins one of the two next games (Sconnie probably), but it would be funny to see them lose them both.
  • He couldn't even win with Sam Darnold lol
  • I'll actually be rooting for Wisconsin (very sorry) next week. Don't want them needing a victory over us to get bowl eligible.
  • Same here, I wouldn't say I like WI but I hate to see the Huskers win.
  • NE shoulda caught that last one that was up for grabs
  • Interesting notes regarding Nebby I saw in a Yahoo Sports recap of their game..The Huskers have lost eight straight games with a chance to become bowl-eligible under second-year coach Matt Rhule, including seven one-score defeats.
  • And to think they once had the longest-running bowl streak.
  • Even with Holgorsen’s input, the Huskers failed to top 325 yards of offense for the fifth consecutive game. Raiola wasn’t terribly impressive, either.
  • He certainly looks the part physically but some of his throws are head-scratchers.
  • Nebraska doesn’t have the offensive talent to be a contender
  • Raiola should portal or he’ll die on the vine at Nebraska. 3 TDs and 7 INTs against great defenses like Purdue, USC, UCLA, Rutgers…also Indiana and tOSU. But that’s really bad. Playing Purdue should get you 3 TDs
  • I guess a freshman throwing interceptions in big ten play doesn’t surprise me
  • As it relates to National Titles, Nebraska is in the Minnesota Gophers year of 1987.
  • Also, using these dates, Nebraska hired a QB from one of their last championship teams to be their head coach in 1981 (fired in 1985). We actually hired ours (Joe Salem) in 1979 (fired in 1983).
  • I always find this comparison very interesting. The similarities are undeniable. And Nebraska fans do not seem capable of wrapping their arms around it. A couple differences though: The Gophers weren't starting every year ranked in the 80's. That ship had already sailed and the national perspective was never that the Gophers were "back" - unlike the BS that surfaces every winter and preseason for Nebraska. Another difference is it could be argued that the Gopher decline and long recoil from the glory years was an internal and administration project. With Nebraska, the harder they try, the more things stay mediocre.
  • They do have the longest running P4/5 bowl streak. Just longest without making one. 7 years as of now.
  • If they hire their own Jim wacker for their next coach, it is over for good (it already is over for good)
  • That is really amazing when you think about it, and most of those years they were ranked or had votes for the top 25 preseason.
  • How long do you have a losing record before you aren’t a “blueblood”?
  • This is a really good question. What year did Minnesota lose blue blood status?
  • What's the difference between a blue blood and a helmet school? Penn State isn't considered a blue blood?
  • I have to think there is zero heat this year but missing a bowl game in year 3 would be the end for Rhule
  • Nebraska is bowling because they played UTEP (2-9), N Cockeye (3-9) and Purdue (1-10), so half their wins from teams that would have to pool all their wins to get to 6, and a very very down Wisky team. Kudos though for the Colorado win and Rutgers is actually OK this year. They won the games they needed to which is more than they’ve done the pest 8 years.
  • We seasoned fans of bowl games welcome the upstart Nebraska team to bowl season, must seem like what years since you have been able to partake……..oh wait, never mind.
  • And next years first AP poll will have the Huskers at #15.
  • Now that they are bowl eligible, will their delusional fan base argue that they got jobbed out of a CFP at large spot by the committee?

Penn State

  • How would you rank the coaches in the B1G?
  • Rhule is 5th
  • Guys like #2ndChoice, Riley, Rhule and Schiano are tricky to place as they are solid coaches but have struggled at times to deliver results and are other guys I considered for my list
  • Everyone else though Rhule and #2ndChoice are.the top of the bottom third.

Colorado

  • Nebraska bowling finally lulz
  • Congratulations! Y’all should sign Matt rhule to a lifetime contract!
  • Enjoy your 6-6 bowl fuskers…I’ll take our trajectory over yours all day.
  • bUt NeBrAsKa FoOtBaLl Is BaCk…
  • I’m in nebraska for a memorial service. It’s pretty horrible here
  • Have fun with those zombies wearing Husker gear.

Wisconsin

  • Badgers - NU Game Thread
  • Seriously - feels like whichever QB makes fewer mistakes gets the win in this one. Raiola looks like the real deal, but also at times like a frosh on a not great team.
  • Badgers in one-score B1G games since 2015: vs Nebraska: 5-0 vs everyone else: 5-11
  • the NB faithful seem to have lost confidence in their team (even more than us)
  • Badger wearing the “losing” red pants today with white jersey.
  • Looks like the D is gonna be in trouble w/o Wohler.
  • That TD was too easy for them
  • Maybe they can fire tressell after this game
  • wouldn't it be great if the trouble all along had been Longo?
  • Is getting a delay of game on a FG attempt a coaching issue? Asking for a friend.
  • Lots of missed tackles on this drive by UW. Looks like a game between 5-5 teams...
  • We’re near the completion of year 2 of the #2ndChoice era. Has there been one enjoyable moment?
  • I know there are some #2ndChoice fanboys on here that like to blame everything wrong with the team on Chryst. But what I would ask is, do you actually think this team is well coached and well prepared every week?
  • This team is extremely poorly coached in all three phases. Consider me in the group ready to fire the whole bunch as soon as possible
  • Legit bad in all three phases. Pretty much a disaster of a half against a poor team.
  • Nebraska controlling the line of scrimmage on offense. Minnesota is going to shove it down our throat.
  • Christ, why are you even running a play you stupid fucks?
  • I don't think I could play for a guy like Fuckell. Looks like he doesn't even care. Afraid to show any emotion. Football is an intense game, please show some intensity. And since he does nothing else on the sideline maybe he can be the one to watch the play clock to make himself useful.
  • The most points scored by Huskers in first half in three years. Pathetic.
  • After watching the #2ndChoice press conference earlier this week and then watching that first half, it seems like the head coach is in way over his head. How much is the buyout?
  • He turned us into Nebraska. It’s sad even the Gophers look better coached.
  • Thinking towards next year now. There is not one reason to be optimistic with this staff and no impactful players. This team is now years away
  • oh wait--our defense is built to play Oregon, not Nebraska.
  • Butt whipped by shitty Nebraska.
  • Our team has no fight…This is a shitty Nebraska team
  • Done with this shit. Hopefully the Volleyball team wins tonight.
  • 12 years since we lost to these a-holes.
  • Jesus Christ why do you go for two in that spot? It worked, but if you fail 14 points only gets you a tie. Am I missing something?
  • The only thing you are missing is more outrage. #2ndChoice is a dipshit.
  • Offense has 400 yards and Locke having his best game of the year. And getting crushed by Nebraska.
  • Was just having a conversation where I was saying Locke is having a pretty good game. Aaaaand right on que, his weekly interception.
  • Hey everybody, I have some good news! They can't make us take that shitty trophy with the shitty name back to Madison this year.
  • Considering we cashiered Leonhard for losing to Minnesota because Chase Wolf can’t run a two minute drill, can we hold this clown to the same standard next week?
  • When Nebraska last made a bowl game, incoming freshman were 9-10 years old.
  • Not sure if this has been pointed out already, but Nebraska scored their most points in 40 games
  • End the Luke #2ndChoice Era
  • I've seen enough. This team is poorly coached and not getting better.
  • These results are hard to swallow, and it's hard to imagine #2ndChoice elevating the program to levels that Chryst hadn't achieved, while running it in a way that's not all that easy to embrace.
  • I hated how he was hired. Leonhard deserved the job and got fucked.
  • I wanted him to be the right hire. The social media stuff immediately gave me bad vibes. It screamed phony to me. Still tried to be patient & let it unfold.
  • It is just rough when both the offense and defense suck and somehow the head coach is not involved in either.
  • This staff has lost the fans. This staff is actually getting WAY more patience than fans would have given Jimmy with this same level of play.
  • It isn't howwe have competed against the big schools, but rather the poor performances against very mediocre schools... Cockeye, Nebraska, USC.
  • Interesting that BigCat is putting out stuff to keep supporting #2ndChoice. Does he know something we do not? Has he spoken with #2ndChoice? Are big changes coming?
  • I get wanting to avoid the cycle of coaching turnover, but the concern I hear most frequently is the team losing its identity and toughness. Each year we stick with #2ndChoice is moving further from what has made Wisconsin successful.
  • End of the day our three best wins over the last two years are Rutgers 2x and a non-bowl eligible Illinois team on the road. That is truly uninspiring.
  • I think you are over estimating the quality of this year's team. They could go 4-8 next year and still be legitimately improved.
  • Raiola still a trash talker
  • His press conference was one thing telling me he's in over his head; the performance this week is another indicator. Fuck 'em
  • He does not look like a guy that could motivate a team to have a great game to win the axe. Going to be 7 point underdogs at home
  • They aren’t firing #2ndChoice, yet. But cleaning out the rest of the coaching staff outside of a few guys doesn’t seem like a bad idea.
  • And then trust #2ndChoice to hire the next set of retards?
  • It's odd in a way that next week probably can't get #2ndChoice fired, and his future in the job is basically tied to however next year goes.

Cockeye

  • Please don't boo Cade or Harris on Senior Day
  • If North Carolina can fire Mack Brown…Then Cockeye can fire Kirk Ferentz if need be.
  • Fidone's mommy not happy...
  • If only the Fidone family would have used their heads rather than their hearts when making that college choice!
  • He'll enter the portal and beg Cockeye for a look or go to one of the Kansas teams.
  • Remember when Fidone tweeted at Cockeye fans that he’s going to play in the NFL regardless of where he attends college? I don’t think that is going to age well.
  • Yeah I kinda got the sense he'd never amount to much with some of the stupid things he'd say and post.
  • Nebraska WR to enter portal
  • Malachi Coleman, a former 4-star prospect from Lincoln, plans to enter the portal and would have three years of eligibility remaining. The Hawks offered him out of high school. Perhaps he could be the "player to be named later" in exchange for Oliver Martin.

Reminds me of a valuable life lesson from Jack Handy:

I sat next to the Alabama strength coach’s wife on a flight to Nashville. Struck up small talk and she said every coach is renting a house in Tuscaloosa due to fan expectations. (If they lose 2 games next year, good chance they are all out of a job according to her). Said there were a lot of “unsure folks” about following DeBoer to bama when they had a good thing going in Washington. Talked how most loved their time in South Dakota and most plan to return after this “adventure” is over for them. Her words…

Saban’s greatest success was whipping a highly dysfunctional booster core into shape. Guy was Joseph Stalin. Impossible to follow

What’s Minnesota’s beef?
I don't think people realize how insane it is that Minnesota now hates Nebraska more than they do Wisconsin. It's absolutely nuts.

But they cannot stand Nebraska. They want us to go 0-12 every year. They follow our games every week. It seems like a quite unhealthy obsession.

Cockeye fans, it at least makes sense. Minnesota makes no sense.

They desperately want some other team other than Army and Ivies to have gone from greatness to permanent irrelevance. They thought we were almost trapped down with them forever and can sense it slipping away.

I think the Minnesota perception is our fans came in to the conference as assholes who thought we would dominate. So they took a lot of pleasure in passing us by under Frost.

But they also have an inferiority complex because, you know, they are fans of Minnesota, and they are constantly thinking our fans are disrespecting them (which we are, because they are Minnesota) and they just really hate us now.

It’s a little brother / big brother thing.
