The positives:
1: Gained a solid looking RB commit. The search for a lead back in that room goes on so no harm in adding him and let's roll out the footballs and see what happens.
2: Other transfers and Decoldest visited and things are looking good there.
3: HS recruiting continued and we have to have helped our chances with the DB recruit in this weekend. Clemson, who is one of our main rivals for him, added a different guy this weekend too so maybe no room for him there any more. We'll see.
The "nobody knows":
4: Purdy showed up and left without pulling the trigger. Heavy rumors that he is N but then..
..no action. Just a pause before he commits or an unexpected loss here? To me it's not that big of a deal. Get him, great. Lose him, move on. We got CT and that is what we needed. We could roll with LS or another QB from the group that will be available after spring.
5: Defensive line help from the portal? Again rumors of a possibility were strong but in the end nothing so far. The target from Miami must be considered a "must get" at this point but will he actually visit? DL help is NEEDED badly. Any chance we find a DE who can get to the QB? (doesn't look good right now)
The negative:
6: RB transfer Jackson showed up and was surprisingly sent back due to whatever mishap with admissions. This stuff happens but Frost can't afford misses or wasted time at this point. Gotta consider this a fumble.
7: Speaking of Frost, nothing like catching COVID a little before a big recruiting weekend where a top QB transfer's parents have come to maybe close the deal. There is no way that having the head man miss this weekend doesn't impact it negatively. Bad luck or poor precaution practice? Fumble number 2.
Where do we go from here? I think transfer business needs to be done quickly as the semester will begin and HS recruiting has to be slowing down. Not sure if we will see much more action before the Feb signing day. Might as we'll start focusing on 2023 recruits. (but who knows who will be coaching them😉)
