The new Xenforo update that we did last week makes it possible to install a “progressive web app” on your phone to easier access the board on your phone. Here are some instructions to install on both Android and IOS. This will also allow for push notifications on your phone which is really nice.

UPDATE: if you click the side menu then “install app” it will walk you through the steps as well now.

Android:

On your phone, click the three lines at the top left to open the menu. Scroll down and click “install the app”


IOS(iPhone):

• Navigate to tPB in Safari.
• Tap the “share” button at the bottom of the screen.
• Scroll to the bottom of the menu.
• Tap the “Add to Home Screen” button.
• Enter a title for the website.
• Ensure the URL is correct (usually, you’ll want it to lead to the site’s homepage).
• Press “Add,” and a new icon should appear on your home screen.

The new Xenforo version should create a full app-like experience that really feels like a separate app, though it still runs in-browser on iOS


Let me know how this works for you. I’ve heard it works better on Android.

I should have mentioned that Apple requires iOS version 16.4 or higher.

I installed it on my iPhone and the push notifications are nice to have

Do you have at least iOS 16.4? If so you should be able to follow those Safari steps and get it working

Haha no it’s pretty easy. Just go to the main page in your web browser, click the share button on the bottom, then click add to home screen

Clicking "install" is not enabled i.e it does not function on iPhone. I am happy with tpb as it is now; please don't make it as an app. OWH when they switched to an app it became lousy and doesn't have the full features of their old website FYI.

Correct, the click to install is an Android option. Even the ios steps isn’t technically an app. It just adds a link to your homepage and gives you push notifications

I can only get to share from an individual post, not the main page.

From the post, when I 'click' share, I can't get an option to add it to the home screen

Weird. Are you in Safari? If so this is what I clicked to make it work
