What will this week's special teams mistake be?

Missed field goal? Will our kicker miss the ball when kicking off? Will our kicker or punter accidentally kick the ball backwards? Will our punt returner fumble a punt and then get murdered?

My guess is that we will try to block a punt and we will get called for roughing the passer. This will happen at a pivotal point of the game.

That would be original.

I don't know, but it will be something completely unforeseen and a colossal fuck up that no one sees coming, and happen at a critical time...That's Nebraska's Special Teams M.O.

I mean...look at this shit...

36 yard average punt...pathetic.

15 yard KO return average...so basically we get to the 20 instead of the 25....dumb.

that is just unfuckingbelievable

How about this for a new special teams rules until Frost or the new HC brings in a ST coordinator:

1. All Kickoffs either through the end zone (down wind) or popped up for fair catch.
2. All punts angled & kicked intentionally out of bounds no matter where we are on the field.
3. All punt returns let go “Peter, Peter,” no fair catches, no risking it. Take our chances on how the ball bounces.
4. Fair catch all kick offs or let them go through the end zone. No exceptions.
5. No more FGs. Go for it in all 4th down situations inside the opponent’s 45.
6. No more XPs. Only 2’s.

I'm ok with these strategies.

I'll go with us returning a kick/punt for a TD that's called back because of a hold/block in the back.
I can’t see either ever happening. If the other team has a penalty and is forced back yardage on the kickoff we always find a way not to get the ball to the 25 yard line which is comical. On punt return we can’t even catch the punt and if we do our blocking is as pathetic as it is on kickoffs so we aren’t getting return yards.

Absolute barn burner of a game, 10-10 with 1 minute left, we just scored, and the offense looks like it's turning something on. We actually complete an onside kick, recover it, return it, somehow fumble it untouched, NW recovers it and returns it for a TD. The play takes about 45 seconds. We lose.

Punter misses the long snap and drops it. Picks it up and tries to run with it to the first down. Gets tackled 1/2 yard short of the first down. NW gets the ball back on our 50 side and gets a touchdown. That touchdown wins the game.
