It would seem that pretty much every single pre-season concern was valid. Now we may have disagreed on how much these issue would effect play and/or if we’re overreacting to these possibilities. But it looks like we all had a pretty good read on this team, even if our love for Huskers helps us believe we could be better than what our heads told us…

1. O line needs to improve a lot. We got sold the bs again and appears they still have a ways to go. Might be better than last year, but not good enough.

2. Interior DL was gonna be a problem. Don’t think I need to expand on this.

3. RB room lacks depth and talent. No more need be said on this issue.

4. DR needs to work on his mobility and agility. He did, and I’m not saying there’s anything more he could’ve done to improve on this. I just know we thought it may be an issue, and it is.

That’s all. I just find it interesting that your average fans and otherwise had this team pegged (no pun intended) from the get go. Interesting and frustrating 😕

And that's why they're an 8, 9, or a 10 win team like most people predicted.

Fwiw, I did think nebraska would win this game, but I also predicted Biff's Butthole Surfers would win the Big Ten. I felt they would lose to a Oklahoma and Nebraska and then gel for an 8-1 Big Ten finish.

But Biff's Butthole Surfers is actually two weeks ahead of schedule.

People won’t like my take…and I don’t particularly care…

There were a couple of those sacks that were on Dylan holding it long - but the majority of the issue is squarely on our line.

If Dylan has the stat line he did yesterday throughout the B1G and we win 9/10, he will be in New York at end of season for the Heisman ceremony. 75% 300 yds and 3/1 TD/INT

He looked competent until the very end against a good B1G defense. I remember how many games last year he completely shut down in the 4th/OT

To your point, PFF guys came away impressed with Dylan. They say there’s a legitimate superstar in him with how he was negotiating pressure and making big throws at times in this game, but this load was too much for him to carry.

He needs help bad.

What’s very nice is that for multiple sections of the game Barney was the best player on the field. He finally has real skill guys

Totally agree

DR’s play overall is not one of our issues, it’s one of our strengths. But we all knew (or most of us) that his lack of mobility will be a problem. Now… this isn’t all or even mostly on Dylan. He worked hard on his obvious weakness. Coaches could’ve helped him out a lot by putting a good offensive line in front of him and stud RB behind him.

Do you think the geniuses on TPB were able to figure this out, but Rhule is dumb and had no idea? Is that the implication here?

Of course they knew. But they didn’t have enough money to address all their issues. And frankly if I have 4 key places that need to be addressed and have money spent on (QB, Oline, DL and RB) and you only have enough money to properly address 2 of those positions… I’m putting my money towards a QB and offensive line. And that’s what Rhule did.

Unfortunately Pritchett may not be worth what we paid. And others haven’t improved as much as we hoped they would. Rocco was a good pick up and seemingly worth the money.

I can't look at Indiana and buy that we didn't have money to improve all four positions. They don't have to all be all stars.

No. Just don't understand why it wasn't fixed in the portal

I think it’s pretty obvious… Money. Rhule isn’t paying these players out of his own pocket, it’s not his money. He’ll spend it if it’s provided to him. If we had enough money to recruit and land a top portal D-tackle and top portal RB, we would have.

Indiana spent A LOT of money and Cignetti used it like a genius.

Edit: Also, Cignetti has a unique ability to see and evaluate lower level talent that can play in the B1G. Not sure any other coach in D1 is better at that. And pulling legit B1G level talent from group of 5 and FCS teams really makes your money go far.

I agree with most of what you say, but you still can’t say we will win 9-10 games is a for sure even if Raiola plays well which I think he will. Our lines have to get better or we will be a 8 win regular season team at best. We actually got Biff's Butthole Surfers at the right time, and still couldn’t get it done.

Maybe, hope you’re right. I don’t see Mich winning the B1G and I don’t see us winning 10 games. But it’s a long season, hope I’m wrong and you’re right.

And that’s not to say I think we suck and are gonna go 6-6 or something like that. But I think 8 maybe 9 (big maybe) might be our ceiling without noticeable improvement in a few areas.
