The 18 Most Interesting Stats from Week #7
by Chris Vannini, The Athletic

1. LSU's Tyrion Davis-Price rushed for more yards against Florida than anyone ever, surpassing Herschel Walker's record.
In the 49-42 win, Davis-Price finished with a school-record 287 yards and three touchdowns on 36 carries. Walker's previous record was 238 yards for Georgia in 1980. It was also the fourth-most rushing yards by an SEC player against a ranked opponent. LSU finished with 321 rushing yards as a team. It had rushed for 375 yards total in five games against FBS opponents entering Saturday. LSU has now scored and allowed 40 points in a game five times under Ed Orgeron. It had only happened two times in school history before Orgeron. This was the highest-scoring game in the rivalry's history.

2. After a 24-7 win at No. 2 Cockeye, Purdue now has five more wins against AP top-two teams while unranked than anyone else in college football history.
Purdue's 13 total wins against top-two teams are the fifth-most all-time, behind only Notre Dame, Ohio State, USC and Oklahoma. But the Boilermakers hadn't beaten any ranked team on the road since Oct. 18, 2003, which had been the longest drought in the Power 5. In the win, Purdue receiver David Bell had 11 catches for 240 yards and a touchdown. The 240 yards are the most by any player in Kinnick Stadium history, surpassing Tulsa's Dan Bitson's 235 yards in 1989.

3. Cockeye's seven points were the fewest scored by a top-two team at home against an unranked team since Texas against Southern Methodist in 1980.
Cockeye quarterback Spencer Petras threw four interceptions, after Purdue had just two takeaways entering Saturday, tied for the fewest in the country. The Hawkeye defense had just one takeaway. They'd recorded 14 takeaways in three Big Ten games entering the day.

4. Oklahoma State held Texas to six yards in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Longhorns 16-0 in the period in a 32-24 comeback win.
Texas has blown a double-digit lead and lost in consecutive weeks now. After scoring a touchdown on its first drive of the second half, the Longhorns did not pick up a first down the rest of the game. The Cowboys rushed for 145 yards in the fourth quarter after rushing for only 61 yards in the first three quarters.

5. Scott Frost is 5-17 in one-possession games at Nebraska, including 0-5 this year.
The latest was a 30-23 loss at Minnesota to drop to 3-5 overall this season. Frost is 6-9 against Minnesota, Northwestern, Purdue, and Illinois as Nebraska's head coach. Despite the 3-5 record, Nebraska has a plus-91 scoring margin this year.

6. TCU has allowed 200 rushing yards in four consecutive games, as many times as the past three seasons combined.
The Horned Frogs allowed 230 rushing yards to Oklahoma in a 52-31 loss. They previously allowed 214 to Texas Tech, 272 to Texas and 350 to Southern Methodist. TCU has allowed 6.5 yards per rush five times in the past four seasons (41 games). It had five such games in the previous 17 seasons combined (216 games).

7. Georgia's NCAA-record extra-point streak ended at 363.
The Bulldogs missed one in a 30-13 win against Kentucky, the first such miss since 2014.

8. Colorado State kicker Cayden Camper made five field goals for the third time this season. The rest of the country has two such games.
Camper was 5-for-6 in a 36-7 win against New Mexico. He went 6-for-6 against San Jose State last week and 5-for-5 against Toledo earlier this season. Oddly, outside of those three games, Camper is 1-for-4 on field goals in the other three games. The Rams allowed just 79 total yards to New Mexico on 56 plays.

9. Baylor linebacker Dillon Doyle had four tackles, one sack, one rushing touchdown and one receiving touchdown.
No FBS player had done that since at least 2000. The Cockeye transfer had not recorded an offensive stat in his college career, but he had a two-yard TD catch and a two-yard TD run in Baylor's 38-24 win against BYU. Doyle played linebacker and tight end in high school in Cockeye.

10. Mississippi State finished with 300 passing yards but 299 total yards in a loss to Alabama.
MSU quarterback Will Rogers completed 35-of-55 passes for 300 yards, but the Bulldogs finished with minus-1 rushing yard, largely due to Rogers being sacked seven times -- including four by Will Anderson, the most sacks by an Alabama player in a game since Derrick Thomas had five in 1988.

11. Ole Miss ran a school-record 101 plays in a 31-26 win at Tennessee.
That included 39 passes and 62 runs, as quarterback Matt Corral ran 30 times for 195 yards. Fans booed for what they perceived to be fake injuries.

12. Indiana QB Jack Tuttle became the third FBS player since 2000 to throw at least 52 passes for fewer than 190 yards.
Tuttle finished 28-for-52 for 188 yards and two interceptions in a 20-15 loss to Michigan State. That's 3.6 yards per attempt. The other two players to put up a line like that were Wake Forest's Tanner Price against Syracuse in 2013 and Notre Dame's Brady Quinn against Florida State in 2003.

13. Boise State has lost three home games in a season for the first time since 1998.
The latest was a 24-17 loss to Air Force. It's the first time since 1996-97 the Broncos have lost three consecutive home games. They became an FBS program in 1996.

14. Louisiana-Monroe became the second team to win two games in a season as an underdog by at least 23 points.
The Warhawks were a 33-point underdog to Liberty on Saturday, but won 31-28. They were also a 23.5 point underdog against Troy. ULM is now 3-3 in Terry Bowden's first season. The Warhawks were 0-10 last year and didn't lead in a single game. ULM hadn't hit a 50-yard field goal since 2014 but made a 53-yarder to take the lead late on Saturday. The Warhawks have been outscored by 101 points this year, winning close and losing big.

15. North Texas had 17 penalties for 161 yards in a loss to Marshall.
The 17 penalties are the most by an FBS team this season, and the 161 yards are the second-most by any team over the past two seasons. The Mean Green have lost 10 games by at least 21 points over the past three years.

16. There was a 99-yard touchdown for the second week in a row.
Last week Coastal Carolina tight end Isaiah Likely had a 99-yard touchdown catch on the Chanticleers' second play against Arkansas State. On Saturday, Ohio quarterback Armani Rogers had a 99-yard touchdown run against Buffalo.

17. Eastern Washington QB Eric Barriere passed for 600 yards in a 71-21 win against Idaho.
The Eagles finished with 837 total yards, a school record. Barriere completed 26-of-35 passes with seven touchdowns. That's 17.1 yards per attempt. He also had a rushing touchdown.

18. Division III Linfield University (Oregon) clinched a 65th consecutive winning season.
The streak began in 1956, and witha 52-23 win against Pacific (Oregon) on Saturday, Linfield moved to 5-0, guaranteeing it a 65th consecutive winning record. It's the longest streak in college football history. (The Wildcats did not play a 2020 season.)
