POLL State of the Progrum (Week 9)

Is the Nebraska Football Progrum ahead of schedule, behind schedule or right on track?

I think defense is light years ahead of schedule.

Offense is on schedule for year one with glimpses from a young receiver core and incremental line improvement.

The only thing behind schedule is QB due to garbage room left over and rolling the dice on a dud transfer.

Excited to see what this could all look like the next year or two with a high quality, immediate impact transfer at QB. The thing that worries me is Sat's ability to identify and develop said transfer. He's certainly 0 for 1 on that at DONU.

I expected this to be a typical Rhule year one, with 3-4 wins and some reasons for hope going into the off season.

The defense has absolutely shattered those expectations on their own. And there is lots of young talent getting PT so that gives me hope that it's not a one year wonder.

Even the offense gives me a bit of hope for the future. They're nothing special but seem to somehow keep their head above water despite being down 73% of their day one starters. That has also given lots of young guys some PT so I feel like things can only go up from here.

Recruiting is a crapshoot for me right now, as I do wanna see a few more commits with more P5 offers, but Rhule has shown he can do a lot with those guys that are lightly recruited but have the tools.

In summary, I feel like we are seeing what I expected to be year 2 during year 1.

Ahead of schedule on the whole. I said Rhule is a miracle worker if he drags this team to more than 6 wins and that's looking pretty doable at the moment.

Offense is however much worse than I imagined even with being really bearish on Fumbley Jeff and Uncle Donny

I meant to vote ahead of schedule but clicked the wrong button

I think they get a pass here given the situation and hard to predict that a guy will have a complete mental breakdown. If they miss again next year (misevaluate and/or fail to close on a big name transfer) then I think changes have to be made at OC. We’re only going to have White for one or two more years max so really have to hit while the iron is hot.

Overall, ahead of schedule.

The defensive unit has been impressive. The offense has been pretty bad, but has done enough to win games we lost last year. Special teams are improved.

I mean, win-wise, Matt Rhule accomplished in 3/4 season what took Scotty two full seasons, so ahead of the game there for sure.

This year is probably the only year that we should benchmark Rhule's performance against Frost for given that Frost's tenure was a monumental failure the magnitude of which was unimaginable at Nebraska prior to his hiring
