So, what do we need?

When it comes to the transfer portal, of course we would like to upgrade any position. But, in some cases we are at the point of needing a body just to guarantee depth in case of injury, which we know will happen.

Right now the OL needs upgrades but also just simply needs bodies. We've lost 3 to the portal so far and 2 to graduation. That spot needs help and the sooner the better. Upgrades at OT are a must.

Need: At least 2 ready made starters and 2 more depth.

Dline is another area we've lost 3 to the portal and 1 graduation as well as 1 to the NFL draft. We need an upgrade at DT so we need quality but also gonna need some physically mature bodies too.

Need: 1 ready made starter (2 would be great) and 1-2 depth development fillers.

QB is a total mystery. Looks like we'll need at least 1 maybe 2. Depends on what the coaches think of our bench and what CT does.

Need: Grab bag

TE is a spot that we absolutely need an upgrade and depth. We lost 2 major contributors to graduation and behind them is a wasteland if question marks and walk-ons.

Needs: 2 starters/contributors.


WR surprisingly looks thin when it comes to upper classmen with playmaking ability.

Needs: At least 2 with one being a day one starter/difference maker.


What else?

LBs and Edge. Have to increase the athleticism of those rooms immediately. No offense to the guys who are there but we have very few players who can create chaos by winning one on ones

What else?

The easy thing is to say we need everything. But with a full offseason of good teaching & competent development, we may see light bulbs come on for some guys who were overlooked, hadn't had a chance yet, or looked slow/bad because of being asked to do too much.

We thought our DL was historically bad early in the season, but with a more attacking scheme, it turned out to actually be middle of the pack. Which position group on offense can make a similar jump with a more reasonable scheme?

Depth in the trenches is the big thing for me, and hard to feel confident about QB with 2 of the top 3 guys likely to miss most/all of spring, but that's going to be tricky to recruit to if CT is simultaneously a health question mark, yet expected to be the starter next fall.
