When I saw that in my twitter stream I was a little furious. I think he had a follow up tweet that summed it up nicely. Something like how he remembers all the slave stories about them making millions of dollars and being allowed to go wherever they wanted to play games voluntarily.

Someone should inform ESPN that they don't need to look very hard to find slaves if they want to do a story on slavery. There are still actual slaves today. Lots of them, 3x as many slaves than were enslaved in the entire transatlantic slave trade.
