RIP Ryan Mallett

At least 11 people have died in less than two weeks along the Gulf Coast due to rip currents, CNN has reported.
I was in Florida last week and could barely get more than a few feet in the water before being knocked down, losing my sunglasses, and having my wife tell me how stupid that was. I don’t know why this is happening, but I had never seen constant waves like that.

Wife has been freaking lately with all of the stories. We’re going to Panama City in mid July. Last article I saw 3 people died in the Panama City area via drowning. Double red flag on that day…

Saw him play in a Texas HS playoff game but the game was held in at the Independence Bowl in Louisiana.

Texas High (Mallet’s school) Vs Highland Park

Highland Park in typical DFW fashion was refusing to play at a neutral field (Tyler Rose Stadium) and was insisting they play at a stadium in DFW

In Texas if the 2 sides can’t agree upon a neutral site you flip home and home. Winner gets to choose the site. Texas High won the toss and made Highland Park drive all the way to Shreveport for the game.

Mallett was throwing back foot 60 yard bombs. It was awesome.

I was on the FL gulf coast about 5 years ago and watched the life guards pull 2 20-something year old kids up on the shore. One looked alive but the other was as purple as Barney and he didn’t make it. Rip tides have always been around.

Read article this am - law enforcement losing their minds because people are ignoring the warnings and going out anyway. 🙁

Mallet and I had a mutual friend and we all tailgated together before the Arkansas - Texas CWS game back in '18. Super nice guy, just one of the fellas. We had club seats and during the rain delay, we all went inside and pounded beers for two hours. Arkansas fans kept coming up to him asking to take a picture with him and not once did he ever act annoyed or bothered. Really sad deal.

Our mutual friend told me last night Mallet and his gf were on some sandbar and they decided to swim back to shore. He made it but his gf was struggling so he swam back to help her and during that, something happened - assuming a rip tide - and that was the end for him. 🙁
