I was in sixth grade or so and loved his show. I still remember we were in Walmart and my friend's mom let us buy a National Enquirer about him getting caught jerking off.

I wouldn't call my upbringing sheltered by any account, but I wasn't allowed to watch Pee-Wee's Playhouse as a kid. My parents thought he was too "faggy."

I just now had a 10 minute conversation in the office with someone who's husband is in the business, that her husband worked with him one time.
She told me that Paul sent him B DAY notes, texts, gifts, etc every year ever since.
His B day is this weekend. We are wondering if gifts will show up posthumously.

I was too young to be a Pee Wee fan, by the time I was watching TV/comedy he already had his arrest and his reputation was shot. I remember as a little kid most people talking about him like he was a freak. It's pretty sad to think back on now, I still don't really "get" Pee Wee but clearly he resonated with a bunch of people, it seems like he was a great guy, and his arrest paled in comparison to other things famous people have gotten up to. RIP
