Rhule is, and has been, my #1 choice absent Urb. Being from the Philadelphia area I followed him since his days at Temple. Great program builder as evidenced by Temple and Baylor. Exactly what this program needs right now. Sure hope it’s him.

Yup! I have posted my list elsewhere, but Rhule sits at #2 for me, just behind Urban. There is nothing that I don't like about him and I would feel super confident with him as HC.

Not a concern because he wasn’t at either program long enough. I’m old enough to remember people wanting to run TO out of town because he wasn’t beating the top teams either.

Texas finished in the AP top 25 in Baylor’s best year when he was there. I’m too lazy to do much more digging than that lol

I know he beat Penn State while at Temple but they were like 7-6 that year.

His last year at Baylor he went 11-3 with a loss to #10 Oklahoma by 3, #6 Oklahoma by 7 in OT and #5 Georgia by 12. So pretty competitive all things considered.

He took over programs that were a mess so no I'm not as concerned. His first 2 seasons at Baylor the scholarship numbers after the scandal were so low he had some players who played both ways. At Temple he beat Penn St, whish should never happen. Baylor after the scandal and Temple in general were tough places to recruit to. He found diamonds in the rough and developed them. He took 3 Star James Husker Lynch and turned him into the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year. His last year at Baylor he was the Big 12 Coach of the Year and had both the Offensive & Defensive Players of the Year for the conference.

He seems to be good at identifying talent and developing it. With the Transfer Portal and our deep NIL pockets he should be able to retool the roster much quicker. Hire a couple high level recruiters and restock the team. I can't imagine what it was like to try to hire quality coaches and recruit to Baylor after the Art Briles Scandal. Couldn't have been easy.

Not doubting this statement because it’s been said in here before but where are you hearing that he doesn’t want to recruit? Also, how important is it that the head guy does as long as he hires good recruiters as your second sentence states.

Not doubting this statement because it’s been said in here before but where are you hearing that he doesn’t want to recruit? Also, how important is it that the head guy does as long as he hires good recruiters as your second sentence states.

No coach really wants to recruit. It's gotta drive them crazy. Rhule may not like it but I don't think he's bad at it. Having a few ace recruiters on staff would help tons too.

I was just referring to the video above. I know little about Rhule aside from his nfl days.

In the video I got the vibe he is bigger on development over recruiting.

There has to be a good mix.

I’d love for him to keep Mickey on as his lead recruiter. Mickey is a good spotter of talent. He has somehow talked 2 kids into commuting to Nebraska while not being the head man and kept class in tact.

I don’t want Mickey as HC. But I’d love to have him paired with Rhule.

Honestly, no it doesn't. He went 0-3 in his first year at Temple and 0-4 in his first year at Baylor. Both schools were absolute shit when he got there. In is last year at Baylor, his 3 losses to rated teams were a loss to #10 Oklahoma, a loss to #6 Oklahoma in the Big 12 Championship (Oklahoma went on to the playoff) and a loss to #5 Georgia. If that's the level we are at in 3 years, I won't be complaining.
