We are going to use this thread to post any info we hear about the Rhule/Penn State drama.

I mentioned this in another thread, but per @6mgCoolMintZyn Rhule did tell the team today that he is not interested in the PSU job. (We did note that he would likely say this to the team regardless if he is interested or not though.)

Waterboy did confirm that they held a team meeting today but he was not in it, so he cannot 100% confirm what was said. He said that they did not have practice tonight which is a little unusual but not something he said to read too much into. (Waterboy said they were told they needed rest from the long travel and after the tough win.)

I believe this was first posted over on NCIU, but we were able to confirm - Penn State actually reached out to Kenny Dillingham last night (before they fired Franklin.)

Waterboy is going to keep us updated with anything he hears around the team.

I messaged Rhule on Instagram since we were just chatting last week but he unsurprisingly did not reply lol

10/13 Updates:

-Waterboy said it is business as usual today. The team was offered another day off for recovery but they voted to get some work in and are doing some walk through practice.

-I just got a call from a source who heard directly from Rhule this morning. Without getting into the specifics, he is very confident that Rhule will not be leaving and this will turn into a contract extension and public commitment for more funds from 1890 in the next few weeks. "Something would have to change dramatically" for Rhule to end up at PSU.

10/14 Updates:

-Regarding the rumors going around (not here but elsewhere) that the team seemed "down" or like they knew Rhule might be leaving - Waterboy said that is completely false. He said everything seems completely normal and he has not heard any chatter at all from the team or seen any worry whatsoever that Rhule might be on the way out.

-Heard from another solid source today and he basically said the same thing as yesterday, things would have to drastically change for Rhule to leave. He also checked and said that Julie 100% wants to stay at Nebraska.

-Also got word from someone close to Jay Terry - he said from everything he has heard and what’s been going on inside NU; he doesn’t believe that Rhule will be leaving. Again this is just what he feels based upon the conversations he has had and what he’s heard.

-I did want to throw this out as well because I've heard that one Nebraska media person feels the opposite and believes Rhule will be leaving. I don't want to say who because I don't think he has said it publicly, but I know he has said that he gets the feeling that Rhule will take PSU if offered.

Surprised Wait What GIF

No practice if they would normally practice on a Sunday is odd, especially with the short week this week.
most likely just a recovery day today,

they likely didn’t get home until 2 am or so. Probably just a recovery/light day to get body’s ready for a short week. Wouldn’t read into the no practice today too much

I would bet what little money I have that all this Rhule to Penn St. amounts to nothing but an extension.
Good for all parties. This is a good spot for Rhule right now and Rhule is good for Nebraska. He fits in well. Penn St would burn if they hired him and he wouldn't have any grace to follow his usual blueprint there.

With how much I love Penn State, I think Scott Frost with Mike Riley as GM would be a perfect set up there.

Thank you Garrett!

What I'd expect next is for some droplet of info from any of the players on social media. Or even the players parents on social media. Shavers's dad for example posts a TON on twitter. Everybody's been silent today though.

It's a little eerie that it's complete radio silence from every player/parent all day on social media. Maybe Rhule asked them to not talk about it?

But that could also mean that they don't view this as a big deal, ie of course our coach is staying etc.

I’d be curious when PSU reached out to Dillingham last night. That game was LATE. Was it before or after Utah trounced them while the Sundevils were forced to play Sims?
Two hour time difference. Dillingham’s game started at 8:15 Utah time last night which was 10:15 Penn State time.

So reaching out “last night” Penn State time could have been late afternoon Utah Time.
