In light of Pete Thamel's article on the CFB playoff likely expanding to 12 teams, what are your thoughts on playoff expansion?

I am rarely "in the know", but I heard from someone who claims to have had a discussion with a major P5 coach who believes the expansion to 12 teams will be announced next week. Regardless it seems that expansion is likely on the horizon.

So: you're the college football czar. How many teams are getting in?

Edit: apparently this was discussed yesterday and I don't know how to delete. Please vote KYS.

12-14 team playoffs are magnificent in the NFL when there is real parity between teams that make it in.

12-14 team playoffs in college would make the regular season more worthless and force the likely national champion to play 2 unnecessary games.

Based on the proposal, last years playoff would look like this:

BYE
1. Alabama
2. Notre Dame
3. Ohio State
4. Cincinnati

5. Clemson
6. Texas A&M
7. Florida
8. BYU
9. Indiana
10. Wisconsin
11. Oregon
12. Marshall

Marshall @ Clemson / vs Cincinnati

Oregon @ Texas A&M / vs Ohio State

Wisconsin @ Florida / vs Notre Dame

Indiana @ BYU / vs Alabama

imagine if nebraska was good again in 2023 and we got one of those at large bids or won the conference and we were able to hold a playoff game at Memorial Stadium. that shit would off the hook

Imagine if Nebraska was holding a home playoff game in 2023 and MIAMI came to town

I was looking at the wrong ranking, here is the correct 2020 scenario:
2020

  1. Alabama
  2. Clemson
  3. Ohio State
  4. Oklahoma

5. Notre Dame
6. Texas A&M
7. Florida
8. Cincinnati
9. Georgia
10. Cockeye State
11. Indiana
12. Coastal Carolina

Coastal Carolina @ Notre Dame

Indiana @ Texas A&M

Cockeye State @ Florida

Georgia @ Cincinnati
