Other Teams Thread

This is the other teams thread, the thread where we talk about other teams.

B1G TV crew was creaming themselves over Wisconsin. Weird to me how much everyone has forgotten their offense was dog shit last year.

Im having such a hard time deciding how much of last year means in terms of looking towards this year.

Wisconsin is always overrated

This is a great point and could certainly be discussed in a thread of its own. How much does last year count when assessing a team's 2021 prospects? What do you think? I'm interested in reading the board's opinions.

Wisconsin, Penn State, and Michigan we’re all sub .500 and Indiana looked like a top 10-15 team. We had multiple G5 teams in the top 20 at one point.

Im not really looking at W/Ls from last year. I’m looking more at the process.

I think actually playing last year was incredibly valuable for young players on all teams, and some older players, too. Most people view it as something you can't get a lot of tangible data from, though. The incredible inconsistencies teams had to deal with as far as practicing and schedules, even players being able to play makes it quite difficult to get a firm grasp on what to expect this year.
All we can say for certain is that Bama was leaps and bounds better than every single team last year, but even they start 2021 with a lot of unknowns.

Last year was an exhibition. Should be a huge asterisk beside conference champs and national champ. Multiple teams playing with diminished rosters, canceled games, opt outs. It wasn’t at all legit CFB.

however, young players got experience outside practice for free - no loss of eligibility.

My favorite part of last year was DONU clamoring that “they just want to play football” over and over again. Then turning down the opportunity to play another game.

Sad.

It's still hard to believe.

Penn State currently has the #1 recruiting class in the country. 24 commits, 14 4*.

Kicking off a little Illinois talk. Illinois's new DC was at Mizzou the last couple years. Stat floating around twitter lately is that Mizzou ran 2.5% of all of the cover one looks like all of college football last year. There's a lot of talk about what exactly their new D is going to look like (particularly if it's going to be more of a 3 man or 4 man front), but live or die by cover one seems like a certainty given the dude's record. Pretty interesting breakdown here on dude's defense. https://www.rockmnation.com/film-room

Going to be a bit of a gut check moment for the offense and the receiver growth as single high/press is an easy way to neutralize our passing game unless we finally have an answer on the outside.

Jack Coan won the Notre Dame qb job. It will be interesting if sticks as the starter since Notre Dame plays Wisconsin early on

I’m told by reliable sources (an assistant coach and the team Doc) that if KSU has starters go down with injuries again they are screwed.

They think if it’s a normal year KSU could win 7 or 8 games but also this thing could go sideways in a hurry due to a lack of depth.

schedule is pretty hard and I think they start 2-4 or 3-3, and it is always a coin toss for how 18-22 year olds will handle that

That’s very surprising considering Nebraska beat them. All any other team would have to do to negatively recruit against pedo state is tell the croots that Nebraska beat them and then show them our season film.

Listened to a Wiscy media member and said the team treated the season like an extended spring game after they all got covid. Said they treated it like a joke.
