If anyone hasn't watch the first 2 episodes have been released. Just finished both. It's damn good TV. I am giddy for the next episode already. 100% on rotten tomatoes.

Rumblings it could be on par with some of the OG GoT.

I wish it wasn't subtitles. They speak English when they're allegedly speaking Spanish. Don't know why they couldn't do English for Japanese too.

Just starting this tonight, almost finished with the first episode, solid so far but damn watching on youtubeTV there’s mandatory commercials every 7-10 minutes it seems like. Just brutal

I love this show. Big fan of this time period and the samurai culture. I started to replay the ghost of Tsushima video game to get fully immersed again.

This show also makes me want to go play with some Japanese women.

I have read it twice. Excellent book. The 1980 miniseries is also v good

Have read them all multiple times over the years and love them. Went to Osaka castle last summer because of how big a piece it plays in Shogun.

If you end up liking his writing, you’re in for a treat. Tai-Pan also rules (about the UK opium trade and founding of Hong Kong). I like Gai-Jin better than Shogun (Japan immediately after Admiral Perry opens it up to trading, so basically a spiritual successor to Shogun). Noble House v good too (corporate takeovers in 1960s Hong Kong).
