OT: Morgan Wallen

As a former metal and hardcore artist , I can’t help but think we peasants are witnessing greatness with Morgan Wallen musically.

He actually writes solid well constructed music.

Anyone going to his concert tomorrow? Shit is wildly expensive.

I’ve come to the GOAT message board in all of the land to cement how I view him.

He’s legit, two albums that have shattered records. His songs are pretty decent if you listen to them in the context they are meant for. He definitely has the image that people especially young women go crazy for. He doesn’t really write most of his stuff though, Hardy is his main songwriter and then the guy who blew up Nickelback and Florida Georgia Line is his producer.

His live band makes metal versions of his songs that are pretty dope, lots of metal heads in Nashville that masquerade as country musicians on the weekends.

Meh. Sounds like pop country to me. Well written? Sure. Still lowest common denominator music full of pop buzz-words and imagery.

Give me a Sturgill Simpson or Jason Isbell over Wallen any day.

But that's like, just my opinion.

Hes solid. Good showman and has solid songs, although I'll admit I'm not a big snob about that stuff anymore either. Someone mentioned above Hardy writes for him, which is a plus. Some of Hardys jams are not my favorite, but when he hits, he hits.

Hardy is a good dude. I’ve known him for many many years. I didn’t know he was writing for Morgan. But that makes sense now that I listen to the writing.

I can get down with Sturgill occasionally.

I’m not a country fan by any means. Grew up on the old 50’s 60’s and 70’s country with my grandpa and was bred into metal from my father god rest his soul. A 3 year old listening to pantera had no chance.
