This is going to sound like a commercial but thought this place was pretty neat.
@lee_carvallo_12 and the rest of you golfers...
Took the family to see my grandparents in Hot Springs Village. They retired there about 20 years ago and I haven't been to see them at their house in 12 years. We always see them at other family functions so we had never taken the kids down there.
If you're not familiar it's a gated community north of Hot Springs, AR about 20 minutes. It was originally planned for retirees but there are also young families in the village now. When I say "village" people think a small place..Hot Springs Village has a population of about 15,000 and covers 26,000 acres in the Ouachita Mountains.
Beautiful place, my point of this post is...if you are looking for a golf getaway...in the village there are 9 golf courses and all but one is public. 171 holes in the village and they are all beautiful courses. I wish we would have had time to play some but we're not big golfers and were only visiting for the weekend
If you're looking for a golf weekend...you could play 36 holes 3 days in a row and never play the same hole. The one private club on the property, "Diamante" is one of the top courses in Arkansas.
Side note, the village also has 11 lakes to swim in and hiking. Pretty cool place.
