Well, guys. I'm on day 3 on starting a new job with a smaller size company based out of Minneapolis and Chicago.

But I'll be traveling a lot from plant to plant helping with their systems, so their policy is use your credit card and get reimbursed after filing out the expense report. So all hotels, traveling costs, and food will be reimbursed.

With that, I signed up for a Chase Sapphire card last night. I remembered a huge thread on the Mainboard about it, but thoughts?

Thanks! Makes it my second personal one. Always wanted an upgrade to the standard USAA one I had for basic purchases.

I was looking at getting the American Express Platinum card myself just to have access to either the Centurion Lounge or the Delta Lounge. Plus you have automatic gold status with Hilton or Marriott.

Chase Sapphire is legit if you want to travel. I think there are times where the point sign-up deals are better than others if you can time that. My wife and I put all of our wedding expenses on the card, immediately paid off, and racked up enough points in a year to use points for all of our honeymoon flights.

Have 600,000 or something now, which is enough to fly first class pretty much anywhere in the world.

I like how they come in a fancy box. I cancelled mine though because I don't travel enough. Not sure it's worth it even if you do.

OP if you are ever going to be staying in small towns I suggest sticking with the Chase over the AMEX.

I’d also recommend getting a credit card for your gas/food/travel and then getting a credit card with your preferred hotel. IHG, Hilton and Marriott all have rewards points that can rack up fast.

Make it work for you man, get all you can.

I use that card. I highly recommend.

Depending on how much you think you’ll travel it may be worth upgrading to Reserve. If you think you’ll earn and redeem at least ~75k points per year on travel then you’ll break even despite the higher annual fee. You also get some benefits with door dash and Lyft of those are worth anything to you.
