I don't think we have had consistent OL recruiting both talent and numbers wise since TO was coaching but it was especially bad under Frost.

These are the players Frost signed that at least made it to campus:

2018Will Farniok***
2019Matthew Anderson***
2019Michael Lynn***
2019Bryce Benhardt****
2019Jimmy Fritzsche***
2019Brant Banks***
2020Turner Corcoran****
2020Alex Conn***
2021Teddy Prochazka****
2021Henry Lutovsky***
2022Zero Recruits

2019 is the only year with decent numbers and a lot of reaches. 2.2 recruits / year is not enough be build depth and account for busts across 5 starting positions on offense.

Here's Rhule's first 2 classes:

2023Gunnar Gottula****
2023Sam Sledge***
2023Brock Knutson***
2023Mason Goldman***
2023Jason Maciejczak***
2024Gibson Pyle***
2024Jake Peters***
2024Landen Davidson***
2024Preston Taumua****
2024Grant Brix****

If we sign no one else this year Rhule has already added 10 lineman in 2 years which is 1 less than Frost added over 5 years. (This isn't accounting for transfers, only HS recruits)

We still have to develop them but part of recruiting OL is purely a numbers game. You can't take 2 guys in multiple classes and hope for a 100% hit rate.

EDIT: I didn't include Cam Jurgens. I don't know if they actually considered him an OL when they brought him in.

I only count 10 Frost recruits. The 2022 line says Zero Recruits.

Good info. I guess this is what Rhule means by building from the inside out!
Numbers give you options and depth, which makes for a better football team.

That's simply mind blowing. I don't know how you can objectively look at signing 2 kids a class and think those numbers will work out. And,.if I'm not mistaken, I know Banks was listed at OL, but didn't we recruit him as a DL and then move him to OL?

The thing with Rhule too is that he is bringing in quality with the quantity. Sure, each class has a guy that is a bit of a head scratcher, but I also am SUPER high on at least 3 kids from each class - Guttula, Sledge and Knutson was a solid haul last year and I love Pyle, Taumua and Brix in this class.

Just to compare this is what Riley brought in for 3 recruiting classes. Lot's of misses but he recruited the same amount of OL as Frost in 2 less recruiting classes.

So to get 10 OL recruits it took Rhule 2 years, Riley 3 years, and Frost 5 years.

2015Jalin Barnett****
2015Michael Decker***
2015Christian Gaylord***
2016Boe Wilson***
2016John Raridon****
2016Bryan Brokop***
2017Chris Walker**
2017Broc Bando***
2017Matt Sichterman***
2017Brenden Jameis***

And the two highest rated guys were the two bigest flops!

Maybe I misunderstood, but it sounded like Rhule called Mason Goldman a DL today in his presser.

I thought they moved him over awhile back. Just from his tweets looks like he's on the DL.

Mr Majestic was over there too but moved back to the OL recently along with Ruquan Buckley I believe.
