It felt better because so many of the national writers and analysts picked Florida. Sport Illustrated's article previewing the game showed FL as a bunch of rockets and NU as steamrollers. They assumed FL had all the speed and would run around NU.

If you were a NU fan at the time, you knew the beatdown was coming.

I bought into it. We were at the game in Tempe and I'm on record - mildly overpoured - at the pregame fan soiree predicting a 42-17 Florida win. I've never been so happy to be wrong as it turned out our tickets were basically in the Florida section. Their fans went from mildly obnoxious to very complimentary as the game went on. I enjoyed it bigly.
