Just read an article about Auburn having $13 million in NIL money and how that could sway Lane Train away from Oxford. I don't remember reading/seeing anything about how much Nebraska has. What are the numbers for us NIL wise? Nebraska makes a big deal about NIL, but are we walking the walk too?

I have no idea what the number is but I'll believe the 247 guys like Bud Elliott who say that Nebraska is a willing spender in the NIL market. Moreso than what Penn State and Michigan have shown so far.

And Bud Elliott isn't some Nebraska sunshine pumper. He just covers recruiting for 247...mostly in the southeast. He said that Nebraska is "spending spending" in NIL.

We're doing alright for sure. I don't think it's 13 million, but with the right coach, I think we can get that amount up easily if we see the successful coach leading us.

Word was ABM brought in around $5 million, but only paid out $2 million. Where's my money Gerrod & Bruning? Peeds with the help of Matty D gonna run a smoke screen for them with their new NIL company. Would be a black eye for the Husker Program if they investigated ABM/Gerrod & Frost. Lots of shenanigans.

That's a question I'm going to ask Matt Davison Thursday. He probably won't give me an outright number but I think he should be able to ball park it. Also, I don't know that throwing a number out there, like 13 million, is what you want to do. That seems like it could be just a number to entice young kids (which will probably work) to come to your school. Nebraska 'could' throw out "we have $75 Gajillion dollars for NIL...who cares until it is materialized and kids see athletes at Nebraska with tangible things they got b/c of NIL monies.

Bottom line to me about NIL...show me my $$ value at your school and then we'll talk

EDIT: How much money is the Peed family willing to provide yearly? that's the question for Matt...

If I'm wrong please correct me

Shenanigans for sure!!

I bet Matt was shocked at what he saw in the books, or maybe he knew and ratted out G-Money and Johnny-B to the Peeds as a show of good faith "See what I did for you...see...see"

Funny how we don't hear about Gerrod anymore innit?

You also don't want that number getting out because inevitably you'll have kids who then think they are underpaid.

Behind the scenes Bill Self has been asking the KU Boosters/Admin for roughly $10 million/year in NIL $$$ for the basketball program to be competitive with the Kentucky's, Duke's & North Carolina's of the college basketball world. That figure seems a tad high but that is what he has brought up

That's gonna be the slippery slope. Like this year where we have returning Starters at Outside Linebacker/Rush DE and they spend big bucks on Mathis. How does that make Nelson feel as a returning starter but probably not getting 1/5 of what Hired Gun Mathis is getting. I today's game the coach is going to have to be part Salesman part Psychologist and part Coach. No more "Ole Ball Coaches" that are the "Rub some dirt on it". I would think Pelini would have really struggled with NIL. Gotta have some tact these days.

Didn’t Ryan Day want to be at 24 million if I remember right? I’m guessing that would be around the high point.

I didn’t get a $ amount, but I’ve heard from different sources that we are in the top 10% in the country when it comes to NIL. I think these straight $ amounts are fairly misleading, lots of different variables at play when it comes to collective money vs deals sourced in other ways so I think it’s nearly impossible to put a $ amount on it.

I mean if you're an NIL investor you can't really be all that concerned with making money
Ultimately the players are supposed to be profiting off of their Name & Image. Like being utilized in TV & Radio commercials plus ads and other forms of marketing for a business or organization. I don't think it is supposed to be just boosters cutting big checks as they are supposed to get something in return.

Decoldest Crawford was the classic example as that went viral. HVAC company gives him $10,000 and they go viral not only in Nebraska but also nationally. That was $10,000 well spent.

There is no way a number can be put on it as the players are striking deals with companies & people that in theory do not involve the university. It is really not the general publics business how much a player makes for doing a commercial for a company. Do bands share how much they make on concerts? Do actors always share how much they make on a movie or tv show? Do NFL stars share how much they make for doing commercials or endorsing a product? These players are basically professional athletes like NFL players and companies like ABM are acting as their agents.

Monet's "Impression, Sunrise" from 1872? More like Money's "Impressive Demise" from 2022

$10 does seem high for basketball...I'll have to throw that one a Matty too. See if he has any insight into the BBall NIL collective or if he's just there for the PEEDs

Would love to know his take. I thought he was just basically working for the Peeds, and maybe some of their friends. Hasn't Turd been working on that other collective in Omaha after he saw how big of a liability ABM was?
