Anyone at this game? I thought Millard South and Bellevue West were slated to meet in the championship? What happened?
Omaha North size in the middle and they some young speedsters.

We were Disinterested like a SEC bowl game.

McCook apparently is going to drop down to C1 for football. I didn’t realize Bennington High had so many more kids. (Was told almost 200 more kids than McCook high)

Classic Nebraska class size bullshit problems where the biggest schools in class size dwarf the smallest in the same class. (Not to mention private schools getting to play public schools and count their 100% wealthy and 0% special Ed student pop. as 1 to 1.)

McCook is gonna murder C1 teams tho… like they went 4-5 this season playing a hard Class B schedule and now they will be playing C1 and easier C1 teams too.

Thoughts and prayers to my Gothenburg and Cozad friends and family cuz the Bison gonna beat that ass by 70.

cc: @hothouse_corn can you imagine how bad some of those games will be vs the shitter C1 teams? Not Goth/Cozad but the crap teams vs McCook? Oh lawd

Bennington was a C-1 school when we moved out of Omaha 17 years ago, graduating class of 43 Seniors.

Skip ahead to joining the Eastern Midland Conference when we moved up to Class B a decade or so ago, and we had 1/2 the enrollment of most of the schools in the conference.

Fast forward a couple of years, and we’re slated to move up to Class A.

It’s been nuts watching the growth out here. But as a kid whose parents moved to the sleepy little town of Millard in 1964, I’ve seen this movie before.

Rapid growth of certain districts leads to these type of results.

Ex: McCook is still averaging around 120 kids per grade (so it’s not McCook shrinking but Class B growing in size) now they are gonna play C1 schools with around 60 kids per grade. Hope they drop down cuz it’s fun to the be the hammer when everyone else is a nail.

North Platte is in the same boat. They are close to being B. They would be one of the better B teams.

I can’t see anyone in the west competing with McCook. Teams like Adam’s Central and Kearney Catholic who are usually two of the better teams will get abused. Kearney Catholic played Aurora a couple years ago and got raped. It will be McCook vs. a couple good eastern teams to decide the championship.

They would probably go 7-1 or 8-0.

NP high is dealing with people sending their kids to the surrounding smaller schools (Hershey, Maxwell, Brady and even Sutherland) + with how public education is going across the country St. Pats is doing as good as ever.

Same thing on a smaller level is happening in McCook. People are sending their kids to Hitchcock county (only 10 mins west) or Southwest Public (only 10 mins east) because they want their kids to be in a smaller school for education/sports/more control over the school board etc etc

Like imagine if all of Lincoln County only had 1 high school and it was in NP, it would be 1 of the bigger Class A schools in the State.

The only team that worked McCook this year was Aurora. (and then Bennington)

McCook beat the crap out of Hastings, Gering and Alliance and beat York in a close game. They had close loses to Crete, Lex, Seward and Sco Blo.

Young team, if they drop to C1 I think they might go 8-0 with most of the wins being blowouts.

C-1 will produce a badass team or two from the East like a Boone Central, Norfolk Catholic, or Wahoo Neumann for example. I don’t know if those teams are good now but it’s some team like them who is a beast. McCook will be that type of team you rarely get from the west. The funny thing is every so often Cozad is that team.

Yep when I was in high school Falls City finally dropped down to C1 for football after spending 10 years getting raped by Beatrice, Norris, Pius, etc.

But our C1 district was loaded. Auburn had tons of guys going to play college ball and won a state title. Syracuse had lots of talent. Even shitty Tecumseh had a guy walk on and play for Nebraska.

That’s 1 of the reasons I think McCook would do so well in C1 cuz out here it’s like Cozad, Goth and then nobody else remotely close.

Honestly those teams will rarely compete against McCook. Kearney Catholic has been the best overall west program for the past 10 years I bet and McCook will smash them.

Reminds me of 1 of the reasons the wife and I are actually thinking about staying in McCook is that the Catholic school in town is only K-8.

Everybody goes to McCook high so there isn’t a big in town rivalry/hatred.

I saw it everyday in Falls City with those Sacred Heart cunts. 1 year when I was in school they won State Football and Basketball and 4 of their 5 starters on the Basketball team weren’t even Catholic.

PS: they couldn’t even pretend they went there for education cuz sacred heart sends almost all of their juniors and seniors to FC Public for 3-4 classes a day because public offered dual credit classes and/or shop & agriculture classes. Parents sent their pussy kids there so they can win vs D2 schools. I’ll still always pull for HTRS after they absolutely murdered Sacred Heart when @Link- was there.

I’ve always liked McCook as a town. One of my best friends lives there and has his own trucking company. The last time I was down there was actually for his wedding probably 8 years ago. The bad thing is the drive sucks to get anywhere East. Hell I hate the drive from Kearney whenever I’ve worked there in the past.

after 2 years in NWKS and 2 years in SEKS we love how close McCook is to Columbus/Lincoln/Omaha

Used to be a 5-6 hour drive and now I can get to Lincoln & Columbus in only 3 hours. (a little speeding)

We used to live 45 miles from the nearest Walmart so what we consider to be a “long drive” is different than most.
