Only nine of the 16 national seeds advanced to Super Regionals.

Only two Super Regions feature a matchup of Top 16 seeded teams.

Other notes:

- The 2026 NCAA Tournament has already produced a handful of all-time firsts. UCLA became the first No. 1 overall national seed to lose its opening game since the NCAA adopted the super regional format in 1999. This season also marked the first time multiple four-seeds advanced to the super regional round, with Arkansas-Little Rock and St. John's both moving on. Kansas, Little Rock, Cal Poly and Troy are making their first-ever super regional appearances.

- Every College World Series from 1957 to 2024 featured at least one returning Omaha team from the previous season. That streak ended in 2025. Now, 2026 has produced another unprecedented result: not a single 2025 College World Series participant advanced to the super regional round, a first in the super regional era.

- With Georgia and Mississippi State (and Mississippi and Auburn) set to face off in a super regional, 2026 marks the 33rd consecutive season in which the College World Series will feature at least one SEC team. The conference also has produced each of the last six national champions.

- At least five of the 16 super regional teams this year will be non-hosts from the regional round, including no fewer than three teams that entered regional play as No. 3 or No. 4 seeds

- The NCAA Tournament, particularly the super regional and College World Series rounds, has long served as a springboard for draft prospects. The state is set for a breakout this year, as none of Baseball America's top three college prospects in the 2026 class -- UCLA shortstop Roch Cholowsky, Georgia Tech catcher Vahn Lackey and UC-Santa Barbara right hander Jackson Flora -- advanced to the super regional round
