But with assistant coach hires, 85% of the time it’s someone we’ve never heard of. So I don’t know if us being excited upon hearing the news is a very good barometer.
who was the 5'6 fucker from alabama that everyone loved on special teamsLast year was his first full year coaching.
You gotta give Rhule credit. He’s not afraid to do something no one else in his position would do.
Oh, the irony of posting this exactly at midnight!Yeah, but not until tomorrow.
That’s hogwash. We can be excited about a guys resume even if we weren’t very familiar with him.
In Maher’s case, there is nothing to be excited about because he literally has no resume.
Imagine if we hired some guy who kicked at Wake Forest and bounced back between the CFL and NFL for a while, who was the assistant to the special teams coach for one season at Wake. Would you be excited? Absolutely not.
Yeah it’s super cringy, and I don’t even understand this one. Did he mean 2026 or is he saying last year was big gains?
We innovate at Nebraska, goddamnitAny evidence of a kicker being a good special teams coordinator? Anywhere at any level?
Its a ST job.
im glad he got the Gig, it shows us all that if you dream big enough and work hard enough you too can be a ST Coordinator at the P2 level. You know somewhere between complete condemnation of this choice and overly exuberant veneration for this choice lies reality.
Dan Young had coached HS football for 6 years at Westside HS in Omaha, and a few years at some smaller schools before becoming the ST coach for Nebraska. He did pretty well, even though he went to school at UNK, which wasn't even UNK when he went there, it was Kearney State Teachers' College.
I like Brett the person, and reports since he arrived is that he is much revered by the kickers, for good reason.

I could make an assumption about your age based on this nugget, you might be just a bit younger than I, but you might be nearly the same age as my wife.Dan Young taught me driver's ed (Never had him in math, though).
I would assume that this amounts to railing .....Guys...listen up. Everything is going to be fine. Rhule makes excellent decisions when replacing people that leave.
People were worried when White and Knighton left but Rhule stamped out those fears with the Butler and....whatever that fucking guy from the Chiefs was called. Pristine record of coaching hires.
Now let's get out there and listen to his ad reads in between segments with scuffed Bobby Bacala on the podcast.

Your gif brought back memories of a long lost poster on RSS…@themillerflip . 🙏I would assume that this amounts to railing .....
We could complain all day if that is your wont, however the impact of this will be "zippo" at this point. Don't let negativity about things we have no control over become the focus of your life.

Even when we had excellent special teams, something would always go wrong. I remember the look on Bill Busch’s face after that onsides kick in Dublin. Our special teams over the last 15 years have either been elite or extremely bad. But mostly really bad. So I’m assuming this hire will be either elite or…. Bad.
