They put in new rules that would cost Texas Tech a fuck ton of money if that happened and McGuire half a season suspension.

Now maybe they can find a friendly judge who would rule that the penalties are illegal, but it's a much bigger gamble nowadays because the fine is like 20% of team's revenue

I thought they did something to prevent kids from just quitting one team, pay back any NIL money received and walk on at another team. Then, at some point, secure a new more lucrative NIL contract with said new team.

Otherwise the portal period doesn’t mean shit. Just quit and walk on somewhere else.

Yeah what I described is the penalty for taking a "ghost transfer", which is what Dylan would be if he just showed up at Tech. They put the rule in place mostly because that CB noped out from Wisconsin to go to Miami outside the portal.

Obviously it's still "allowed" insofar as the school is willing to pay the penalties

Only issues are the tenacity, strength and toughness required to play the position, but I’m sure he’ll work that out.

Oregon recently wrapped up its 15-practice spring ball schedule, capped off by the Ducks’ annual spring game. On3’s made multiple calls this week to pick up the final pieces of intel from spring practice at Oregon entering the summer, highlighting transfers and true freshmen to watch.
Quarterback Dante Moore’s decision to turn down the NFL and return to Eugene for the 2026 season has the Ducks squarely in the national championship conversation this offseason. A source said that Moore “looked really good.” There’s confidence this could be the top roster Dan Lanning has had yet at Oregon from the top down.
“Nobody is doubting what Dante can do,” a source told On3.
While the excitement remains about Moore’s decision to return, the focus in the QB room has been on Nebraska transfer Dylan Raiola and third-year player Brock Thomas. Sources have told On3 the two are squarely in a battle for the backup job. The plan remains for Raiola to redshirt this season, but he’s entrenched in a battle with Thomas, who has experience in the Oregon system. Raiola has had his ups and downs in spring ball, sources said.
The Ducks had a multi-faceted run game this past season. But Noah Whittington is off to the NFL, and the expectation is the running game in 2026 will feature a heavy dose of Jordan Davison and Dierre Hill. Former four-star Brandon Smith has turned some heads in spring ball and could be a contributor as a true freshman; the Ducks flipped him from Arizona late in the process. Colorado transfer Simeon Price is another option.
Wide receiver Evan Stewart is “back to normal” after missing the 2025 season due to a torn patellar tendon in his right knee in summer workouts. Jeremiah McClellan continues to develop into one of the top wideouts on the roster, along with Dakorien Moore. UAB transfer Iverson Hooks has come in and been “solid” to round out Oregon’s wide receiver room.
The depth behind Jamari Johnson at tight end has been a question, but sources have raved about the physicality of five-star Kendre’ Harrison. He’s expected to play at some point this year and is “freaky, he’s really good,” a source said. Clemson transfer Markus Dixon will see a share of playing time immediately, while Penn State transfer Andrew Olesh‘s hands have impressed.
Oregon spent the spring mixing and matching on the offensive line, and the full first-team group is expected to come into focus in the coming months. The Ducks need to replace three of five starters. Tommy Tofi has turned heads and has bounced around all over the line in spring ball.
On the defensive side of the ball, the confidence is high in what the Ducks have. Sources said the unit pushed the offense throughout the spring. EDGE Matayo Uiagalelei is back for another season, holding off on the NFL and has been “great” consistently, and EDGE Teitum Tuioti continues to improve.
Linebacker Devon Jackson missed much of last offseason due to injury but finished the season with 41 tackles. Sources have expressed optimism that with a healthy offseason, he will take the next step in his game; a source added he’s one of the fastest players on the roster.
Minnesota transfer safety Koi Perich has come in and lived up to the expectations of the talent he could bring to the Oregon secondary. Ify Obidegwu has been pushed by Na’eem Offord for the second starting cornerback job, a source added.
True freshman cornerback Davon Benjamin will be a “big-time player” in the future for the Ducks. Five-star Jett Washington has also continued to improve in his first offseason in Eugene.

So you are telling me there "might" be a judge in West Texas that would/could see the light that Texas Tech was in the right??????? (/sarc)
