While I love to ski, and have a season pass for the local ski area, I am so damn tired of 8+ months of winter. It already dusted snow here last night, and this is actually pretty late for MT, it can snow in late August, it has snowed on the 4th of July here a few years ago. So I am pretty tired of winter weather, which dominates the year here.
Summers are really nice, but late July through mid September, we usually get really bad smoke/fire season which can partially ruin doing much outdoors. Summers are short here, maybe 2.5 months at most.
Not much fall here, the aspens are already turned and within a week or so the leaves will be gone. But while they still have leaves they make the mountains more beautiful. Fall means football, although with the Huskers, that hasn't always been a positive for too many years ongoing now.
Spring - we don't have much of one. But it is still better than winter. Winter and spring are kind of mixed together here.
So my ranking is: I probably need to move somewhere warmer and more moderate. My cousin lives a half hour outside of San Diego, perfect weather and beautiful Mediterranean landscape. So many things so close. Skiing in the winter not that far away. Beach not that far away. Might get "bored" with 70's temps most of the year, but I will survive.
But for here in MT, I would take Summer, late spring then early fall. Winter last, and only worthwhile to me at this point because of skiing, the rest of winter I can do without. Tired of having to push feet of snow all the time off our qtr mile drive. But I guess, trying to look on the bright side, it is pretty here in the winter.
