I have never used it, but I know I like Allen (Lawn Care Nut) and he seems to know his shit.

Seems like this guy likes it

My neighbor applied it last year and had no noticeable results. (although the drought has been harsher and longer down here than anywhere else in the State)

For me the bottom line is that if this product actually did work as well as they say (reducing watering 50% or more) then it would be a lawn care staple and likely subsidized by Governments in western states. (Most governments west of the 100% meridian already subsidize things like Buffalo grass lawns or converting to rock/zero scape lawns)

I mean shit 1/2 the country is in water restriction right now, if a product could be applied to reduce watering by that much it would almost be mandatory for these areas.

New lawn starting today.

The gal who had it before had a salad bar growing in her yard so this should be a fun project.
You gonna seed it this late? I need to do the same to my back yard (dogs have torn it up over the years) but put it off and now I'm hesitant to do it in the high heat.

I'm going to wait to seed till later.

I think I'm going to carpet bomb it with some fertilizer. Probably go with a synthetic of some kind. Probably the Scotts green max.

Spot spray the weeds on Monday when it gets to low 80's as a high. Watching out for rain.

Fertilizer labor day weekend and over seed some time after.

Mow it twice a week tall and water it.

I also have some patches that I'm getting a sod plugger to help fix them faster..

I need to take a closer look at the lawn of my new place. Need to figure out if it's worth trying to salvage what's already there, or if I'd be better off just nuking it and starting fresh.

@Faux Sean Callahan I'd put down something like Scotts Triple Action Built for Seeding a few weeks before you plan to seed. It's got fertilizer, and should be enough to kill most weeds, and works as a pre-emergent to keep them away until your seeds take hold.

I went KY Bluegrass in my areas near/or under trees but in the backyard I went with this because it’s designed for high traffic and the wear and tear kids/dogs put on a lawn.

Expensive as fuck but great

I've been treating the place I'm renting now as an experiment to see what worked for me. A couple years ago, I seeded with a blend of tall fescue, hybrid bluegrass, and creeping red fescue. I haven't watered it or done anything else since spring - no sense spending more money on it since I knew I was gonna be moving.

The front yard is all sun no shade, and right now it's a mix of green and brown. I wish I knew exactly which kind is still green right now. I suspect it's the tall fescue, but IDK. I feel like I might have to drive by this place again in fall - I'm curious as to how it'll bounce back when things cool down again.

Love Kentucky Bluegrass. Nothing will feel as good under the feet as that and nothing gets that rich dark green color like it does in the spring/fall. Expensive to take care of during the summer months with watering compared to fescue, but man, it was always worth it to me. On the new house, Nebraska Sod put in their blend of Kentucky Bluegrass and Buffalo grass. Been pretty awesome in that it looks and feels like Bluegrass but hasn't seemed to need as much water. Also helps that I get commercial fertilizer to put down and then supplement in between with Milorganite.
