Lateef vs. Minchey

I'm genuinely shocked the amount of people that are already saying Minchey will be the starter next year when he only has 26 pass attempts in mop-up duty when they were up 50 at Notre Dame. So I'm curious where people are landing on this.

Few different choices. The first is who thinks Lateef will win the open competition. But the 2nd and 3rd option is me trying to figure out if people have seen enough out of Minchey to think he's better than Lateef, or if they think Minchey is starting because Lateef isn't good enough?

Might need a few more choices. I'd give Minchey a slight edge right now in an open competition because I think Lateef needs more time and Minchey has experience in a good program and knows what "right" at this level looks like.

I think Lateef will look a lot better with increased reps in Spring/Fall than he did against Gaetz St,Cockeye, and Utah. Not sure we have the coaching on offense to put either one into position to be successful next year though.

I voted #2 but I’m somewhere between all 3.

Lateef in mop up duty looked good, as did Minchey. The difference in mop up duty is Mincheys were p4 teams and navy, Lateefs were against Akron and Houston Christian.

I have heard great things about Minchey from someone who knows ND well.

I guess the way I see it is I’m very both at as a inexperienced player and seeing who has the highest ceiling and from what I have heard that’s Minchey

1) I've seen TJ try to pass
2) Michey is a better runner

Rhule's made a lot of bad calls lately but I think this one is exactly the right call.

I have a quite a few ND friends (raised Catholic in Omaha - pray for me) and they all are saying this is a great pickup for us. They think he's the best QB available next to Leavitt. I think he'll be very good for us.

TJ is definitely a year away. But in the portal era, he's as good of a backup as you're gonna get. Minchey & Lateef will be a good 1-2 QB room. And need a solid 3rd string obviously.

In this case - he'll actually be correct. But he's lost a lot of credibility among the fan base.

This will be an interesting offseason. Rhule talks a lot and the entire fanbase will have this reaction to every single positive thing he says.

I'm looking forward to NOT winning the offseason national championship this year. Because every portal player we sign our fanbase is gonna be like "that guy must suck if he's signing to play for Rhule." It'll be a refreshing change from the RSS 'this new signing probably wins 2 back-to-back Heismans' reaction we normally have.

He's basically a guaranteed non-starter at Notre Dame for multiple years who gets more NIL money and a shot at a starting job here.

Hundreds of thousands of reasons for him to come here even without a guaranteed starting job.

He's got to play though. He's gonna be a RS JR....he's not picking a school unless that school is a heavy, heavy likelihood of him being the starter.

I'm not being literal that Rhule guaranteed him the job bc he can't do that (KM has to earn it). But they can be frank with him.

Minchey is highly thought of. His reps could get him a starter job in the P4. Even if it's slightly less $$ than NU. He's picking Nebraska bc he's gonna be the starter here.

I'm pretty much at the point where I need a Scrote Stats for Rhule and the inaugural one will be the percent of players Rhule has gassed up as being NFL dudes in pressers who actually made a game day NFL roster

We're looking at 6-6 next yr. Our fans need to be honest with themselves about it and the coach needs to know that these results are substandard.
