This proves that Omar Brown hasn’t been able to hold the spot. I thought he was our weakness and that seems to have been mitigated through flexing our strength at corner.

Do we know how long Buford is out?

I understood it as banged up and playing through it but he isn’t 100% as I recall. Not sure if he has had to miss time or not.

he's about 10 months post ACL surgery so anywhere from a few more weeks to the whole season

injured in November
Based on what Rhule has said about knee/acl injuries, I’m guessing Buford doesn’t play until late in the year if he plays at all

I'm not sold on Hartzog at safety with his size, but I'm not really sure what his role would be in the 3-3-5. is he more of a FS, or would be be more like a nickel CB?
No reason to rush him at all. He’s never taken a redshirt. If he can play the last 4 games…great. If not no big deal

IIRC, in Syracuse 335, they didn’t really rotate in a nickel so the safeties were expected to be able to cover a lot.

I think it's too early to tell, at least all the spots, not sure on how much rotation there will be.
Right now I see Newsome at CB, Gifford at Rover, Hartzog as a starter at S or CB. I can see Hill, Singleton, Brown, Collier or Sanford all having a possibility of starting, some at S some at CB and Hartzog is moved around to get the best group out there. Looks like there will be a lot of competition for the last 2 spots.
CBs: Newsome, Hill
Rover: Gifford
Safeties: Hartzog, Collier (if healthy)
Brown and Singleton will be rotated in at rover/safety a lot. If the starting group struggles, I think we'll see a good amount of Morton and Bootle as well. I think Safeeullah, Stewart, and Fields will see some defensive snaps as well but will preserve their redshirts.
Buford is coming off a major knee injury & has also never taken a redshirt. I don't think he plays at all, and if he does, it won't be more than 4 games.
