Is Nebraska being stingy with their NIL?

FTR, we're one of the few major players that are doing it by the book. Damn near all others are daring the NCAA to stop their pay-for-play. If you're a member of The Bomb Shelter go read that article Carm shared today.
Why in the name of God are we doing it by the book? It’s pretty obvious that the schools signing all the talent aren’t even pretending to be following the rules.

It really makes it seem like we don’t care.

Do you remember that time TO as AD self reported to the NCAA that they bought books that where an advantage? Our boosters, AD, administration, compliance and admissions are omega hard rs.

Nebraska is fine in NIL IMO. They aren't top 5, but Id imagine they are in the Top 10-15. NIL is just the easy thing to blame if things arent going well. NIL is a piece but not everything in recruiting. Unless you are Texas Tech and just paying way over market value, the players are still going to factor in the things they have always factored such as location, playing time, coaching staff, facilities, school, etc. NIL doesnt get rid of that.

If Texas and Nebraska are offering 1 million to a recruit, most times the recruit is probably going to choose Texas. To me, that's not a 'lack of NIL,' but just Nebraska not being as attractive of a school right now.If we are ever going to get out of this cycle, Nebraska needs to evaluate and develop the guys they have to overachieve and then parlay that into winning more of those battles when Nebraska has a 10-3 or 11-2 season.

I personally give Rhule more grace because this is a total new world. My personal view is for high school recruiting Nebraska needs to primarily recruit and develop OL and the front 7 on defense, and then just elite, elite skill position players. No more reaches for high school WRs and DBS.

Why are we recruiting 20 high school DBs when you can go to the portal and pull Andrew Marshall and Ceyar Writght? Why take a project WR when you can go grab Nzyiah hunter with 3 years of eligibility? Recruit 20 high school offensive lineman. fpocus on your elite DBs and then supplement the room with proven portal guys.

The game has changed, that is the strategy I would take though. If you are a DB and cant start within 1-2 years, then im fine to let you go develop at Oregon St for a few years.

This is slightly off topic, but I honestly hope this happens. Have some YouTube “star” come in and spend $100 million to buy a roster at a G6 school, and hopefully have them win it all. Would show how absurd all this shit is and maybe finally piss enough people off to actually drive some change to put in real rules and guardrails. NIL/Rev Share at this point is an absolute joke.

If only Jojo Siwa had hit a little bigger, that could have been us. Shoot, we even had her boyfriend on the team for a while.

Didn’t she turn gay after that? IDK, I thought I heard that? Either way she’s completely dropped off the celebrity map.

I believe that NIL deals between private parties and players is not actually under scrutiny by either the NCAA or the universities. The only arrangements that are under scrutiny is the money that is a part of the NCAA or the House settlement. Here how DUCK DUCK Go's AI describes this:

Payment Arrangements for College Athletes

Direct Payments from Universities

  • Source of Funds: Universities can now pay athletes directly as part of a legal settlement.
  • Amount: Schools can allocate up to $20.5 million annually for athlete payments, with estimates suggesting top athletes could earn around $200,000 per year.
  • Restrictions: Payments are subject to regulations, including limits on the number of athletes receiving scholarships and the need for approval for brand compensation.

Private Payment Arrangements

  • Source of Funds: Payments come from third-party corporations or private donors, not directly from the universities.
  • Nature of Deals: These arrangements often involve "name, image, and likeness" (NIL) contracts, allowing athletes to profit from endorsements and personal branding.
  • Earnings Potential: Some athletes have secured deals worth millions, such as a Duke quarterback earning $4 million annually.

Key Differences

AttributeDirect Payments from UniversitiesPrivate Payment Arrangements
SourceUniversity fundsCorporations/Private donors
Payment StructureFixed annual budgetVariable, based on individual contracts
Regulatory OversightSubject to university regulationsLess oversight, often proprietary
Earnings PotentialLimited by university budgetPotentially unlimited, based on market value
Approval RequirementsRequires university approvalTypically negotiated privately
These differences highlight the evolving landscape of college athletics, where direct payments and private arrangements coexist, each with unique implications for athletes and institutions.

IN cases that you might recognize; Dylan got 1/2 of his money from a NIL deal with Adidas that was a national arrangement that the University really had no part of. It obviously will now fall apart as Dylan is playing for a NIKE team at Oregon ( as a back-up ........ and probably is not going to have any where near as lucrative of a deal).

I really wish it came down to just money with these top transfers

Unfortunately these guys also want to play for good coaches while being paid for their services
Totally. That's why Texas Tech became so notable for their top transfer attraction. EVERYONE wanted to go play for 7 or 8 win Joey Maguire after 3 years of D1 coaching production that wasn't mediocre at all - and don't get me started on how experienced and proven his staff is. Very little to do with money.

Get your head out of your ass, idiot.

It looks like she flipped back:
