I get they have to do this but the timing of all of this is just hilarious to me.

Nothing screams give me more money like a 6-6 football team. Can buy tickets for $10 on the secondary market come November but pay us $8k for tickets and to park up front to make sure you catch all the action!!

Can't be affected by the donor shakedowns if you stay poor!

I mean, I don’t want to be a sandy vagina, but I haven’t even watched a whole season of games on TV since Mike Reilly was the coach. There has to be an incredible amount of donor fatigue, especially when you’re now just paying for a lot of one-year, unappreciative mercenaries.

All I need and it's a one time purchase.

I am extremely curious how many of the people who are grandfathered in currently will be renewing their season tickets once that goes away

They clearly must feel they can sell those tickets given the move to do it. But Dean had a stat that something like 40% of the season tickets today don’t pay a donation. That is absolutely crazy. And in the club areas especially, those donation prices range from $1500-$2500 per seat. So for a family of four to get season tickets there, you’re talking about $6-$10k of annual donations on top of the ticket costs which is another ~$1700 all in. Tack on a parking pass on top of that and you’re looking at like $15k to have season tickets with indoor access for a team that has made 1 bowl game in 8 years. Then on top of it all, the whole time you’re there you’re being asked to donate to 1890, concessions will be overhauled which means they’ll cost more. Beer will be nice to have but just adds another cost.

Very interested to see how everything shakes out come 2026/27 with all of this taking shape. Have to pay the bills somehow but gets easier and easier to justify staying home when you start outlining the all in costs above. I didn’t even mention travel logistics/costs for anyone coming in from outside of LNK/OMA either. Tack on $500/night to stay at the Courtyard in the Haymarket or $400 to stay in a room straight out of 1980 at the Cornhusker Marriott and it adds even more costs.

Completely off topic.

Since Scooters has blown up nationally for some fucking reason — does anyone know if the Eckles are Husker fans?

Think I saw it’s a top 5 coffee chain the US now, wtf happened here. Just off topic. Saw scooters sponsors a bowl game now

They even got a shoutout on PTI this week, which was pretty comical.

Just feels like this whole college sports bubble has to burst at some point. Billions of dollars in TV deals and continuing to push costs into the fans to finance teams they have increasingly less attachment to because who the fuck are these guys anyways?

Probably only a matter of time before Nebraska football threatens to move Omaha because they'll fleece taxpayers to finance the whole ordeal like pro sports teams do
