Current Head Coaches -

Mike Gundy - I wanted him before Frost. And that hasn’t changed. He wins…at a step brother school

Lane Kiffin - I just like the guy. In the words of Brandon Walker, he coaches the way we play Madden. 4th and 6, hell ya let’s go for it

Dave Aranda - Big 10 experience. Very intelligent. I think he could be available

Mark Stoops - He’s winning at Kentucky for Gods sake

Matt Campbell - Maybe his rep has taken a hit because they’ve underachieved a little this year. He’s at Cockeye St and winning games.

Perhaps all of these guys are pipe dreams but that’s my list. I’ll do some research on assistants and see what I come up with.

I really wanted Gundy after Pelini, still would've taken him after Riley. The dude is knocking on 60s door. I just dont see anyway possible he wants to end his career trying to turn this clapped out shitbox of a program around at this point in his life.

If NC is his life goal at coaching, he stands a better chance of doing that in Stillwater than he does Lincoln NE. I'm guessing he wants to ride 9-11 win seasons off into the sunset at Stillwater until he starts drawing his SS check.

He is a man and he is 54. He’s got 10-15 years left in him. Hell if we are really talking about targeting stoops, stoops is 61. Id agree with you on him being better off in Stillwater except the Big 12 is about to be a non-power conference. He’d be target #1 TBH. He’d be a good fit for the talent currently on the roster too.

He’s 54. Seems like just yesterday he gave his epic I’m a man, I’m 40 speech.

You're list is good if we were in the BIg 12, we have to get rid of this spread offense and 50/50 risk reward stuff. Get back to power football and win at the line of scrimmage, not saying option football but power football. I'd like to see us become a more athletic Cockeye or Wisconsin with a stout defense. Outside the box guy, how about Chinander? What about Kyle Wittingham, Chris Peterson. Im open for anything to match the big 10 but stay away from the spread.

Utah spreads you out. But Wittingham is a good coach. Good call.

If we're going the established coach route Wittingham deserves a strong look. He was reportedly interested back when Riley was hired, and would have been a much better choice

Loose tiers

Tier 1
-Large Contest/Sizable Soiree/Formidable Fracas/Big Game Robert "Bob" Stoops
- Chris Petersen though I think he's legit done.

Tier 2 (lots of HC experience)
- Lane Kiffin, Western Nebraska legacy and Lincoln Native
- Mark Stoops, winning at Kentucky, SEC and bring Vince Marrow home
-Bronco Mendenhall, not a spring chicken at 55, but lots of HC experience and has made the fucking cavaliers of Virginia fairly punchy.
-Mike Gundy, lots of experience punching above his weight at Poke State
-Kyle Whittingam, he's not young at 61, but he's navigated the Utes from the MWC to the Pac12 and stayed competitive doing it.

Tier 3A (the program builders )
-Dave Clawson, WF, the innovator of the Clawfense who has his the demon deacons more competitive than they should be
- Dave Doeren, NC St. as has been noted, an absolutely unfuckable hire who seems like he coaches the hell of out the pigskin. Former Wisconsin DC
-Matt Campbell. Lost some shine this year and his ST are bad, but yolo
- Tom Allen and Jeff Brohm, Indiana. Indiana isn't a walkover. Purdue isn't a walkover. I don't love either enough to move them to their own lines, but I could get drunk and make an argument.

Tier 3B. (The fresh faces p5)
-Dave Aranda, Baylor HC, former Wisconsin DC has Baylor playing well in year 2. Though inheriting Matt Rhule's program leaves some questions.
- Jeff Hafley, BC, man bros with Ryan Day, but he's had a solid start in Chestnut hill that's carried over to year 2 despite the loss of their starting QB
-Luke #2ndChoice. Not technically a P5, but good enough

Tier 4 (the G5)
-Jamey Chadwell, Coastal Carolina, he's young, he's got an offense that Nebraska fans might like to fuck with that also could fit what he'd walk into.
-Billy Napier, UL Lafayette. He's got the Cajuns Raging. Young fresh faced HC who's a bit of a gamble and took over for absolute trainwreck human being Mark Hudspeth.
- Bill Clark, UAB, for as much talk as there was of what Frost walked into. Clark got hired coached a year. His bosses cut football. They brought it back. He built a team from scratch and this SOB walks out of the death penalty to the tune of 39-18.

Tier 5 (Baron's zany they can't be worse than Frost but this is a grab bag of shit tier)
-Bill O'Brien. Success at Penn State in Alabama's rehab program, but god this guy rubs me the wrong way.
-Jeff Monken. Getting back to the triple option we never ran to satiate fans who weren't alive to never see us run or those who were alive and dumb enough to think we ran it.
- Joe Brady. Fresh as fuck. Gone from GA to NFL OC in like 7 years. But why the fuck not?
- PJ Fleck. Not since the Stone Cold Steve Austin-Brettt Hart double turn at Mania 13 has there been an angle that would flip more fans faster.
-Brent Venables. I know he's got rumors from his time at KSU, but his defense would be tough as shit
-Jay Norvell. Nevada HC. Former OC in Lincoln who has reinvented himself, like some many of us have, in Reno Nevada.
- Money Team Donte Williams. Now that's he's got HC experience. Bring the man home. Or Uncle Keith idc.
-Craig Bohl. Again, why not?
-Bill Callahan. Older. Wiser. Hates OU.

I really only would want Aranda, Chadwell, or Napier - I realize they are all young. But shit a young hire has to work here eventually.

Could be sold on Doeren- solid fucking defenses. I think he could do a solid job getting us from point f to point c or even B. That may be way we need and deserve for right now.

This made me laugh. Well said.

Also I wouldn’t be upset if an assistant on Monkens staff found his way to Lincoln….Matt Drinkall.

I love Chadwells offense. But Coastal Carolina to Nebraska is such a leap. That’s the biggest school he’s EVER been at

That's a problem with hiring guys who grind their way through the lower ranks. They have limited networks and major conference ball is a foreign planet to them.
He almost needs to go to like the AAC or Mountain West…or someone in the Big 10 or SEC needs to pay him $2 mil a year to be an OC

Names on the list that would excite and amaze me.
Bob Stoops, Chris Peterson, Lane Kiffen

Others I'd be ok with.
Aranda, Doeren

Not on the list - #2ndChoice

The rest can eat a dick.
