The first day went about as good as anyone could have hoped for. Turd completed his search with a fantastic hire. Let's be honest, no matter where he was on anyone's hot board specifically....Rhule was at or near the top of all of them. Turd aced this test.
But, now the work begins and we need to make sure that all this energy and hope doesn't balloon our expectations for the first year to an unrealistic degree.
Matt now needs to stack days. Make the right hires. Convince the right players to return. Attract difference making transfers. Clean up Scott's messes. (Omaha recruiting, roster imbalance, NIL with that leech Gerrod or whoever)
I've already heard some jack wagons on the radio saying year one is "bowl or bust". That is stupidity. If we don't make a bowl game in 23' it's not a bust. This will take longer than 11 months to fix.
Dream scenario: If I were Matt, my year one goal would put huge targets on the opener against Minnesota and the non-con against Colorado. (what genius thought it was a good idea to open up with two road games? Luckily, Minny will be replacing a ton of 6th year players and Colorado is a shambles that one off-season isn't gonna fix. The Huskers absolutely need to start a year off positively, which was something Frost couldn't fucking do to save his life. (Man, fuck that fucking Mook. Him and his wad of chew and off kilter hat)
Somehow we gotta start well and get that positivity for early recruiting. After that I expect struggles with the meat of the big 10 schedule. We aren't going to magically become a totally different team in 12 months. Hopefully we are an improved team.
