Golf Thread

Hope to be heading back later this fall. I’ll add these to the list. Was hoping to play MidPines or Pine Needles. So much good golf in that area it’s a shame people go to Tobacco Road. I guess it’s one to knock off the list when you go.
I’ve played Pinehurst #2, #4 & #8 and I had as much or more fun at Mid Pines. Love that place. Even love the old school outdated restaurant and clubhouse.

Agree with you on 10. Only negative was the round was 5.5 hours for us last summer.
For sure. Holes 9-14 are incredibly hard for the retail golfer. 15 has water in play then it’s a long walk back to 16 tee. Just kills pace of play.

Not many options to route the course differently given the wetlands, the gas line, and Coore Crenshaw already had their land for #11.

We played #10 today, thought it was fantastic. Loved the grind on #2 yesterday. Seems unpopular here, but I actually liked Tobacco Road on Friday. Fun track. We played #8, which was solid plus Pine Needles the two days before that. Overall it was a great mix.

Yeah it is not an easy walk but for a resort course it’s pretty high on the list. Was pretty happy to have a caddy at the turn.

Tobacco Road belongs on Golden Tee. It’s a Mickey Mouse course. #8 is amazing. I said if you had to pick one of the pinehurst courses to play every day, it had to be #8. That is an awesome golf course.

I think Tobacco Road probably comes down to someone playing well there and likely having a positive experience and on the flip side playing poorly, they likely would have negative feelings. #8 is solid, but #2 lives up to everything I expected and #10 was phenomenal and a big boy golf course from the back tees where we played. Overall 9.5/10 trip.

You are spot on here. We hit up #3 (mini #2 that was fun) and the cradle in addition to what you played. The resort, hospitality, and caddies were all top notch as well. I've never been more scared of a chip shot than sitting 10 yards off of a green on number 2 with a tight fairway lie (was too dumb to putt). Finishing in front of the crowd on 18 was also pretty cool.

Number 3 is underrated. That’s a savvy move.
