Gaming Laptop for Golf Simulator - advice needed

I'm getting a golf simulator this year, and I believe I am going to run TG2019 as the software, as it gives you the ability to play and build the most courses.

A gaming laptop is recommended, and the specs are below:

OS: Windows 10 64-Bit
Processor: Intel Core i7 @ 3.20GHz or equivalent
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: NVidia GTX 1060 (or better), for 4K NVidia GTX 1080 (or better)
DirectX: Version 11
Network: Broadband Internet connection
Hard Drive: 30 GB available space
Sound Card: DirectX 11 compatible

I had no idea how expensive gaming laptops are! I was hoping to get something for around $500 or less. The laptop will be used exclusively for the golf sim, and no other gaming will be done on it.

Would anyone have any suggestions?

I'm a personal fan of Lenovo (although not a big gamer). They usually have some good sales on their legion series (supposedly a line of laptops aimed at gaming) around this time of year. I got the Lenovo Legion 5 last year in November. Specced out to about $2,300, delivered to my house for $1,250 after discounts and allowing them to spam my email. I've seen some advertised in the $500 to $800 range, although I didnt pay attention to the specs on that.

What launch monitor are you looking at? And you're going to need to spend more than $500 unless you go the used route. I would recommend a desktop because you are going to need a pretty decent graphics card to run what you need to run. I would also recommend the GSPro software vs TGC 2019.

What launch monitor are you looking at? And you're going to need to spend more than $500 unless you go the used route. I would recommend a desktop because you are going to need a pretty decent graphics card to run what you need to run. I would also recommend the GSPro software vs TGC 2019.

Skytrak, not the new one. I used it last year, and it worked great, but I hadn't bought the software yet. Some friends have TGC2019 and I guess you can play against each other from your home, which is why I am leaning that way.

Gotcha. I would still go with a desktop setup, personally. It's going to last you a lot longer, and it also offers an easier way to upgrade compared to a laptop.

Also would encourage you to get your buddies to take another look at the GSPro software compared to TGC. It does everything TGC can do but better and you don't have to eat $1k up front for the software.

What I've found doing this in the last year or so, is you can try and be frugal about this up front and just end up redoing everything the right way and pay more, or you can bite the bullet up front and not have to worry about redoing everything in 6-12 months.

Avoid gaming laptops like the plague, they have serious overheating issues and will cost you an extra $400 versus a desktop. You can probably find an older model desktop for a good price since the graphics card required isn’t that high level

Made the jump to GSPro just this month and not looking back. It's so much superior to the other iOS based products I tried. I can run the GSPro Light version on the mini PC I bought with points on our work portal. I'll eventually upgrade, but it was essentially free...soo.....

GSPro kicks so much ass. I love it. And in the last 12 months the number of courses that have been pumped out by the good course creators is insane.

Finally ordered a projector and a screen yesterday so I will be able to see what I am hitting into instead of hitting into my Spornia net and then looking over at the tv to see the results.
