Apparently fatty is in good enough shape now to play RB in the B1G.

From Husker Extra today:
>>Joshua Fleeks has moved from receiver to running back, Satterfield said, in Nebraska’s hopes to shore up its depth after season-ending injuries to Gabe Ervin and Rahmir Johnson. Fleeks, a sixth-year player from Baylor, played sparingly at receiver and has spent the last 10 days preparing to make the move. His move likely means Kwinten Ives remains headed for a redshirt year.
Emmett Johnson backed up starter Anthony Grant last week.

“Emmett’s obviously got more experience at the running back position but Josh Fleeks just keeps coming on,” Satterfield said. “I’ve just got to put him in the game and let him go. Transition from receiver to running back in the Big Ten is not an easy task, but he’s had two good weeks and watching him today, I really liked his focus. He’s committed to playing running back.”

I view it that Fleeks is his 6th year of college ball and would help more than Ives at this point. Johnson will still see action but Fleeks has that experience that if he isn’t going to see much action at WR, why not move him to a spot he’s played before ?

probably not a good sign for Johnson and Ives

we need a portal RB in the offseason and 2 in the class of 2024
I read more into it being a problem for Johnson than I do for Ives. Ives iirc played small HS NJ ball and probably never pass pro'd a day in his life. Johnson has been here a while and if he can't get it figured out by now, he's probably gone this offseason

it seems unfair to keep Ives on the bench for being bad in pass pro when the OL has no such standard

Not surprised, he's played it before. Should be a quick transition for him.

Probably 3rd string, which could easily be needed. Better for Ives, don't think he was ready to play physically or mentally.

maybe he can be our javorski lane.

Good a career benchwarmer at wr now switching to rb in week 5 of his 6th college season.

A position move that didn’t need to be mentioned and doesn’t need to be talked about.

Feels like we bring up Fleeks every week since fall camp and he’s an absolute non-contributor

Whatever we have to do to take some snaps away from Grant we need to protect him at all costs. If Fleeks goes down it's not that big of deal but if Grant does then we're down to Emmett, Ives and some walk-ons that for the most part you've never heard of.

What's bad for Emmett and Ives is most of the practice snaps in the spring and fall went to two guys that went down in the third game of the season. I'm sure the plan for those two was to redshirt Ives and get Emmett some live reps at KR and work him into the rotation next year when Grant and Rhamir leave. But now they have been thrown into the fire without a lot of time to prepare.

reminds me of when I was 15, never combined before but had 800 acres of soybean to combine in 2 days. well, just for you city slickers that’s a lot to combine in 2 days.

Well, this ole sumbitch drank 12 pots of coffee and got it done lickity slipt!

With the Fleeks's move I wonder if we will finally see Bonner get some receiving reps. It sounds like Liebentritt (not the Norte Dame guy lol) is doing well at FB, so maybe they can get Bonner more involved in the receiving game now?
