What a production this has been. This is one of the coolest things they’ve done in pro sports in decades.

Some of the commercials and partners have been just on point as well. That National Corn Growers Association commercial with MLB got to me a bit.

If I were on the chamber of commerce in Dyersville, now that I’ve got a field like this, I would push hard for Big Ten baseball games and maybe the tournament, the Cockeye state tournament, and a hand full of Cockeye and Drake baseball games.

I would make Dyersville, Cockeye Baseball Town, USA

"Was this heaven?

No, it was just a large corporation trying to entice the next generation to watch its product by tying the sport to a film most millennials and Gen Zers have never seen.

Oh, well. Close enough."

While people may think that, they get a crap ton of people to visit the FOD every year. My friends own Baseballism, a baseball themed clothing company, and they have one of their stores located on property there. It’s become their top selling store. With their being a game there each year going forward it will only get better.

And how many of those are under 40? Counting only people who visited willingly, not those who were dragged there by their parents/grandparents/spouses.

A lot. There are so many tournaments in Cockeye that have a connected visit with FOD included, they've even talked about building an 8 plex of fields there because of the amount of traffic they get each year. They have so many events that happen there every week at the field itself. I know its hard to understand but a lot of people come and visit of all ages. Its a special thing that will only get bigger now which is awesome for my friends that will make even more money now. By the way their store on site in 2 days did 800K in sales.

They really should push for more games there now. It’s 30 minutes from Dubuque so they can accommodate all of the teams that would need lodging.

I know that “bracket busters” aren’t a thing in baseball right now. But wouldn’t it be cool to have a Thursday through Sunday college non-con tournament in like late April or early May there?
