Remove all fan bias from your answer.

Based on what you currently know, have heard, or perception of the program, if your son was getting recruited by Nebraska and several other P5 schools would Nebraska be a serious top option?

Leave out the current/recent top or popular teams like Bama, LSU, OSU, USC, OU.

Compare teams like Nebraska vs Cockeye, Nebraska vs Oklahoma State, Nebraska vs Michigan State.

I certainly wouldn’t push them toward the Huskers, but would help them lay out all the pros and cons of each school.
If the Huskers won out in the end, great! But it seems their ledger could have a decent number of cons right now. Then again, so could other schools upon closer inspection…

Depending on position, DB, Linebacker Yes. Not a chance with with any other position under Frost.

It's all about fit. I don't have to live somewhere for 4-5 years so wherever is best for him. I'd obviously emphasize that college coaches get fired/leave all the time so he should focus on going somewhere that he likes outside of the coaching staff. But there aren't really a lot of positive football attributes for Nebraska right now looking as an outside observer

If his plan was to live in the state that he goes to college in after he graduates, I would make sure he knew that it’s best if he attends Nebraska in that regard.

If we are making that decision strictly about football, without the benefit of knowing what position he hypothetically plays I’d probably make sure he took a very long look at Oklahoma St.

I’d also tell him that the mistake I made was not picking a school in a different area of the country than I grew up in. Go check out a school like Arizona or TCU. Even a place like North Carolina St.

Depends on what other offers he has, what position he plays, what kind of NIL money would be offered and what he wants to do after college.

I have 3 sons I could tell you which ones would say yes to Nebraska over other Power 5 offers...granted all my kids are young (12, 10, 7)
My 12 year old would commit on the spot. He loves Nebraska, God bless any person under the age of like 30 that likes Nebraska. Feel bad for them.
My 10 year old would commit on the spot to Kansas, no matter how bad they are. He's a homebody and won't want to be far from home.
My 7 year old in the past 12 months has wanted to go to Texas A&M (shortly after we snuck into their facilities), Kansas (after we went to a basketball game), the army (because we drove by Fort Riley on the way to Manhattan in March), be a zookeeper, be on Lone Star Law. I don't know what he would do.

If Nebraska offered my kids and they wanted to go visit we would. It's only 4 hours from home and we are familiar with the program. Proximity being a big factor still for most kids we'd also be looking at Kansas, Kansas State (please no), Oklahoma State and OU.

In this hypothetical situation...do I like my kid?

Taking out fan bias, absolutely not. Not right now. Nebraska has been the laughing stock of college football ever since Frost took over. All of that could change with a good season. Obviously, things are headed in the right direction with Turd at the helm. The facilities are going to be better than most power 5 schools. The NIL money is there, and the fan support is there. It's not all downside but at the end of the day with Frost as the coach, I'd rather him play somewhere with steady leadership.

Impossible. I'd 100% push him to go to Nebraska. Only other scenario is if he was really smart and had ivy league offers and unlikely he'd be NFL bound.

No. Pains me to say but the order of my encouragement, based on stability and success and development to the NFL would be Cockeye, Michigan State, Oklahoma State, compared to Nebraska.

That is if we're removing all bias. If bias, different answer.

I’d push him to go to the Cockeyes so I could go to RSS and run weekly trolls about how my kid plays for an above average team that wins in the B1G and bitch slaps Nebraska each year…and revel in the meltdowns and hatred that would transpire.

…ok, Not true at all. Makes me want to vomit thinking about seeing my kid in those racist cockeye colors.

But still, the trolling aspect would be glorious.

For me it would depend on the Position. I like what Fischer & Mickey bring to the table. So many unknowns with this staff and questionable leadership. Who has proven they can put players in the NFL and develop talent?

I will say no matter what that Fan Support is huge for me. Nothing like running out onto the field with a Sold Out stadium full of people going crazy screaming their brains out. So much energy and fun. For me it would be tough to get excited about lacing them up for a Northwestern, Kansas, Arizona St, Colorado, Illinois.... where sometimes you are happy if the stadium is half full or that fans return from half time. I went to a game at ASU when they were ranked in the Top 20 playing a Top 20 UCLA team. Stadium was only 1/2 full, and after halftime only 1/4 full. The atmosphere was terrible. We have more energy at our scripted Spring Games. I will say that the Concession Cart that sold Street Tacos was the bomb.

If my kid is a 5 or 3 star, I would give him a nudge to go Red. If he was a 4 star…hell no. NU…where 4 stars go to die.

Hell no, but not because of any issue with Nebraska. I just don’t think a kid should live in the same 100 mile radius his whole life. Go visit schools 1000 miles away.

Find a school with a beach close that is strong in an area of study you like. Find a coach that you trust and will be hard on you and that I trust to make sure you’ll stay out of trouble and hold you accountable if you find trouble.

My fandom of NU would be so far down my list of priorities in guiding my kids decision, I have such a hard time getting butthurt when a local kid decides to leave. It’s 100% what I would do and would/will encourage my son to do.
