I'm not quite as certain - I don't know enough about his academic situation to know if he had a hard time getting admissions offices to accept him (TX and FL are good schools) or if this is a NCAA qualification issue. If it's the latter, do we know if there is a chance it is fixable by fall? A lot of schools wouldn't take a chance on that even if there was a 50% chance of qualifying.
I'm just going off what had been said about him. I will say this though for as crazy as DT recruiting has been I would have expected more teams would have been after him so I'm assuming there is an issue with him? Hopefully not.

I just know our admissions office is ass and costs us recruits...so there's that.

Should we just send him to Millard South?

Is that a thing?

I can't remember who but I'm pretty sure they did it with someone in the last couple of seasons.
Yes, it's a thing for partial qualifiers. Like Vail said, we've utilized it recently, but also like Vail, I can't remember who.

An NCAA academic redshirt is a Division I freshman who fails to meet all, but meets some, initial eligibility standards. They may receive athletics scholarships and practice during their first semester but cannot compete in games. They must meet specific academic criteria, such as a 2.0 GPA and 16 core courses, to become eligible to compete in future seasons.

there is definitely some kind of academic issue - the question is, is it one that can be cured before fall?

So he is kinda smart but really not smart?

Is it just they get to play in 9 or 10 games and still redshirt?
The coaches voted in favor of that at the AFCA convention 3 weeks ago but the NCAA has not yet approved that plan.

Nebraska's admissions office has nothing to do with this kid being eligible to play or not as a freshman. Also, if a kid can't gain admission into Nebraska its because he's functionally ruhtarded.

Now correct me if I'm wrong, but Jim didn't go to Nebraska and it can be reasonably inferred from that fact that he could not get in.
