Nothing wrong with that. We used to do deer drives (on foot) in my childhood/teen years.
Not deer related, but related to "deer drives": I had a guy that used to report to me from Aberdeen, SD. Randy told tales of some pheasant hunts "back in the day" that involved two pickup trucks, a couple of lawn chairs in the back of each of 'em with "hunters" seated in them, and a 100' rope with a tire tied to each truck's bumper as a "field weight". They'd form a parallel line and drag the tire through the field in between the trucks, then blast the birds when they popped up. The art was in not shooting the guys in the other truck, per Randy. He was Irish and I'm pretty sure he's drank himself to death by now.

my buddy in the dannebrog/boelus area has made several bad ass custom stands. he's a home builder and knows what he's doing. builds them up on four telephone poles as a base and then uses left over housing materials with insulation, siding, corrugated steel roofing, sliding double hung windows, etc. those are the best ones i've seen.

Dannebrog Country Club is an awesome golf course. I miss the cows though. 😢

We used to haul his golf cart over there, throw in a .22 mag "just in case" and play some sand greens. i think he still plays in a weekly league there.

My dad primarily uses a blind now since he's 73 and has had two replaced hips. I could ask what he uses but he's probably not a real connoisseur. Personally, I always hated hunting on the ground.

Most of which I mentioned have 5’,10’ and 15’ platform options.

Off topic but I always wanted to hunt spring black and brown bears over bait out here. You can basically do it all summer but most of my friends sit in a ground blind for it because the trees are so thin but ground level with a hungry bear isn't really my thing.

I’ve never bear hunted. I wouldn’t be very comfortable with being ground level and so close to a bear.

Would love to get a Redneck in the next year or so. I like the interior of those and the versatility. Right now we have an 18’ platform over a plot that just has camo mesh about 2’ around it with some railings and a homemade house that was there from the previous owners... and about 12 tree stands. I was a little miffed when I put 2 tree stands on the wedding registry and my guests decided that wasn’t an appropriate wedding present..
would have been nice to upgrade a couple of the older stands.
Thank goodness someone came through with one of the St. Croix rods I put on there 😎

Buddy got a Muddy Blind in exchange for letting a Texan rifle hunt his ground last year. I think Muddy's are the best available. However, all four of my tower blinds are homemade.

I want to get a tree saddle system and practice it this offseason. Just seems like it’d be a nice tool to have in my pocket for public ground to pretty much just climb up any tree in the woods in a couple of minutes and be ready to go.
