Who stays and who goes for 2023?
I'm sure some will jump to the portal at their first chance and others will leave after spring but the roster is gonna look sooooo different by fall camp 2023.
At this point I don't see any reason to keep any senior who might still have eligibility outside of Drew. (but I think he is out of eligibility)
My guesses:
DB Tyreke Johnson
QB Logan Smothers
RB Rahmir Johnson
RB Jaquez Yant
TE Chris Hickman
OL Brant Banks
OL Michael Lynn
LB Garrett Snodgrass
DB Noa Pola Gates
QB Heinrich Haarberg
TE Thomas Fidone
WR Shawn Hardy
WR Kimonte Grimes
DL Marquis Black
LB Mikai Gabyor
LB Seth Malcom
TE Brodie Tagaloa
DB Jaden Gould
I also believe some starters will possibly leave like DL Ty Robinson and DB Tommi Hill.
That is 20 guys and that number actually could be low.
I think we lose lots of ones who suck but if they have a HC in place shortly after the season, I bet you'll see a lot of guys stick around. Of course you'll probably see a few guys who only came for a position coach leave but that's not a big deal
I'm anticipating a metric shyte ton of roster turnover. And any time you prune a "living thing", some good wood will be taken along with the dead and diseased wood.
I think so much of it will depend on who is the head coach. Bring in a big name winner and more of the starters would probably stay and the dead wait will know they will be passed over. Bring in a Ho Hum hire and I can see quality teams raiding our few good starters, that is the ones who can still transfer without sitting out a year. We may be forced to keep some of the middling players as depth if a bunch of starters leave.
Sometimes I just sit and look at the chart and am amazed by how fucking terrible it is. Scott absolutely screwed the pooch with regards to retention and roster management. Just one misstep after another. Literally every imaginable problem.
