I heard someone talking about this and never really thought about it, but is it possible that the Big 12 will be left out of the cfp completely?

Arizona State is currently ranked 16th as the top B12 team. Tulane is 17th as the top AAC team.

Tulane finishes the year against a 9-2 Memphis team and then a 9-1 Army team. If they win out they should be ranked pretty high. If ASU loses a game and someone else wins the Big 12, it’s not crazy to think that Tulane will finish the year ranked higher, thus claiming the last conference champion spot.

Unless I’m missing something?

5 highest conference champions receive automatic bids. The other 7 spots go to highest rated teams not in the 5 automatic bids. So yes, theoretically they could be left out.

Definitely could happen. Something that I've been openly hoping for, for several months. Big 12 is crap and doesn't deserve an autobid any more than the AAC.

Big 12 better be praying that Arizona State wins out or Tulane loses or they will be left out in the cold. Irony is that Tulane has a harder schedule to finish the season than Arizona State does.

Tulane is better than Boise btw. Damn shame Broncos have somehow wedged themselves amongst the “top” group - they are not playing good ball and have been exposed a bit.

Jeanty’s year and playing Oregon close back in September Is keeping them up there for some reason.
