I'm interested in how many we take from the portal and what positions.
I think we have 4 spots open if Ugnius gets a medical.
Most likely looking for a veteran replacement for Sam and Reink. Maybe one more big in case Ugnius is hurt again?

Replacement for Mast and PG/ball handler are the top two priorities. And they both need to be starter level players.
They both need to be an offensive threat as well.
Bynum from OSU should be target 1A, B and C to replace Mast (needs to get his 3 point percentage and assist numbers up though)
This kid from Lehigh is also interesting. 42% from 3, 7 boards per game and 2 blocks + 2 steals. Kinda looks like a Mast clone

I'd love to get Bynum, but idk if we can afford him.
There has been a lot of talk among Huskers fans about Bynum. Hell, I've brought him up a lot.
But we all seem to be bypassing one important aspect:
Nobody knows if he has any desire to leave Ohio State. The Buckeyes also paid Bruce Thornton millions to stick around. Have to imagine they will have access to funds to pay Bynum next season.
Diebler probably getting fired if they don’t make the NCAAs. And he probably needs to win a game. So there’s that too…
I believe Ohio State has a 5 star 6’8 PF recruit coming in next year too, maybe that could help push Bynum out the door

BTW, this kid won back to back State Titles in Tennis. That's unique and impressive.
I don't know that you need a like for like replacement for Mast. Whoever it is has to be able to work from outside the paint but that could be more in the mold of a Derrick Walker 2.0 rather than a big who shoots volume 3s
I prefer super white or ultra white.
I think the biggest thing to look for in replacing Mast is a big guy capable of facilitating. Thats what has really kept the team moving forward, even when hes not been a big scorer. Get someone capable of scoring but even more capable of distributing properly.
Berke has started to show signs of being able to do that, but I'm not sure I'd trust him for that role. A trio of Uggy, Curtis, and a capable transfer would be excellent.
Yeah the facilitating piece especially without Sam and Lawrence is going to be big on next year's team. Have to find a couple guys who are comfortable on the ball and can get looks for others.
Cale can probably pick up some in a slightly expanded role but he isn't the point of attack defender that Sam is.
